Bug #4974
Bug synopsis: fatal error: illegal skill advancement <2/0>
Reported against: ADOM 1.1.1
Operating system: Windows XP
Submitted on: 2004-01-01, 10:20:10
Submitted by: Hat
Bug state: in progress
Bug description: When creating a character, adom worked correctly until I came to the skill advancement menu, which it gave me three advancement choices for, when picking the third one, the fatal error arose.
Bug evaluation: No evaluation so far.
Comments (65): By any chance, were you picking the talent "skilled" or "very skilled"?

-- Brannalbinncaptainofthenorth (2004-12-08, 21:10:19)
This is likely another Skilled talent crash. Dupl. of #2371.

-- Matti Merikari (2004-12-13, 14:03:40)
If the situation is as Brannalbinncaptainofthenorth describes it, then you've just stumbled across a well-known bug.

The error itself seems to be more of an oversight by Thomas, rather than a serious logic error. Just remember that there is a long time between releases of ADOM, and, for all we know, he may have already remedied it.

And if it hasn't been fixed... well, it seriously needs to be.

-- Tung Nguyen (2004-12-17, 16:15:59)
The original report was submitted as #2371.

The Universal Principles of Design Thomas Biskup recommends: The Universal Principles of Design
"A great book about design principles, no matter whether you are designing games, software or tools. I like the two-page structure: First the design principle is explained and then you get real world examples of how the principle can be applied. Combined with clear writing, a crisp layout and streamlined editing this makes for great reading!"
