Bug #4976 Bug synopsis: game crashes when chosing talent "skilled" Reported against: ADOM 1.1.1 Operating system: Windows XP Submitted on: 2003-12-30, 22:41:28 Submitted by: Ryan Bug state: in progress Bug description: When creating a character, if a chose skilled as a talent the game will crash. the talent seems useful and i am annoyed with this bug. Bug evaluation: No evaluation so far. Comments (618): This bug was repeated many times before.-- Jacek (2004-12-08, 13:58:15)From what I read on the bug reports, and how the .err file displays it, I think it tries to access and add to the skills before they're enabled/declared. Similar to how a variable in CPP cannot be accessed unless it has been declared. I'm not the maker of this game, so I can't claim to know what really was happening, but if this helps him out then it helps us all.-- Saadow (2004-12-16, 16:32:55)The talent skilled, or if i can choose 2 talents if i choose "very skilled" after skilled then the game crashes, exits itself out.-- Danny (2005-05-09, 16:00:03)-- Note from Thomas Biskup: One or more comments for this report have been banned because they contain HTML code and this website recently has been spammed by idiots trying to swamp the website with advertisements.Same thing happens to me no matter who i choose-- Ramiz (2005-11-02, 12:18:38)fQDYRkiNZk 7zX1G4ec1y e5BfGtlgUVna-- i9TQWTYT5k (2006-01-17, 14:40:58)Bb3rURaF7TgDy Clzy1dQ89RhT Af7g0ylZfUzGM-- PX6LJqZd8r (2006-01-31, 10:59:06)I have same problem-- blowme (2006-06-29, 09:25:47)Problem usually when you get to choose over 2 talents in the beginnin. The third talent crashes, but also then that talent "Talent" is choosed, it crashes-- Voipijumalaollaniinjulma (2007-03-28, 21:24:05)nrvmqbs pnku ejtc wqjatxpd otcdzq fvwcox dsmgjrvln-- crdflksnh@mail.com (2007-09-20, 13:59:10)I have this same problem.-- Meg (2008-08-23, 17:03:49)I had this problem a thousand times.-- Heloá (2009-04-05, 01:15:49)I feel staisfeid after reading that one.-- 1991 (2012-01-03, 16:42:29)I have also encountered this problem ADOM 1.1.1 / Linux Fatal error: \"Illegal skill advancement (2/0).\" Upon character creation - gnome necromancer i think. generated character (let fate decide).-- silly (2012-07-15, 08:20:57) << Previous bugNext bug >> Thomas Biskup recommends: The Universal Principles of Design "A great book about design principles, no matter whether you are designing games, software or tools. I like the two-page structure: First the design principle is explained and then you get real world examples of how the principle can be applied. Combined with clear writing, a crisp layout and streamlined editing this makes for great reading!" More details about this item can be found here: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany. It doesn't cost you any surcharge, but provides me with ADOM-related income. Thanks! A complete list of my reading recommendations is available here.
