Bug #4979
Bug synopsis: Level 1 Talents Displayed After Game Starts
Reported against: ADOM 1.1.1
Operating system: Windows XP
Submitted on: 2003-12-26, 01:17:07
Submitted by: Stephen Guth
Bug state: in progress
Bug description: Start any character.
After begining (when the character is in the wilderness), display available talents. (:T on my computer)
Talents that can only be chosen at startup (such as skilled, wealthy, or +1 attribute) are listed. They vanish from this list after gaining an experience level.
Since these talents can only be selected when the game begins, shouldn't these by removed from the list of choosable talents?
Bug evaluation: No evaluation so far.
Comments (489): What needs to change here is not the list of talents itself, but the name in which it is listed under. Many of the talents have prerequisites, and as such, it would make sense to show all of the talents in the game so that players can see what talents are still avaliable to them, along with the ones that aren't along with why/why not.

I think the reason is that the requirements for those talents is that the PC must be at level 1. There's no way to get talents at lv.1 after the games stats, as far as I know.

Player's Handbook: Core Rulebook I (Dungeons & Dragons, Third Edition) Thomas Biskup recommends: Player's Handbook: Core Rulebook I (Dungeons & Dragons, Third Edition)
"The player's handbook offers a lot of bang for the buck - character creation in D&D V3.5 has been improved by leaps and bounds and there is so much flexibility in the system that I personally no longer feel any real restrictions due to classes or levels. My favourites include: pick as many classes as you want, sorcerors, critical hits, the new familiar rules, feats and more. There also is some stuff that IMHO got worse from V3 to V3.5 but it's easy to ignore (e.g. weapon sizes). Definitely recommended (especially so since the ADOM RPG in the next version will also be grounded on the D20 rules)!"
