Bug #4992
Bug synopsis: Mud Rooms Do Not Activate When Entered By Stairs
Reported against: ADOM 1.1.1
Operating system: Windows XP
Submitted on: 2003-12-07, 20:38:10
Submitted by: Zachary Palmer
Bug state: in progress
Bug description: After retrieving Kenny, I entered the upstairs room on PC:2. I was confused to be hit by a glob of mud, going blind as usual. I had been in this room before, but had entered only via the staircase; this apparently does not trigger the mud room effect.

This is on a Windows XP machine using ADOM v1.1.1.
Bug evaluation: No evaluation so far.
Comments (1581): Erm....I dunno what you've been doing, but the mud traps ARE triggered even when going up and/or down stairs...

-- Shadows of Fear (2004-12-27, 07:37:15)
I've decended into a spa room and had the mud instantly hit me... don't know what you had done.

-- Adam Ruggieri (2005-01-06, 01:27:45)
yeah it happened to me once too.

just a simple switch problem, but not that simple in such a long code like ADOM

What's with all this casino crap?

Hmm, This Gives Me An Idea; If SOMEONE Sees This Comment Please Tell Your Opinion,

To Make This Casino Bullshit Dissappear, We Can Create An ADOM COMMENTERS COMMUNITY (ACC), Which Anyone Can Join (Still Making Possible The Original Comment Mode Same As Always) But This (Reponsible) Members Has The Power Of Modifying Comments Or Erasing Them;

Having Our "Headquarters" That For Banning Those Who Join For Creating Havoc In This Place.

I Think That, If We Use This Comment System, Is Our Responsability To Keep It Clean, So I'll E-Mail Thomas Biskup With This Idea, Hoping That He Will See This With An Open Mind.

Yah, I have noticed that the code for entering a room by the stairs varies, sometimes it will display the message, and sometimes it wont.

The Design of Everyday Things Thomas Biskup recommends: The Design of Everyday Things
"I really believe that most software engineers think too little about the usability of their products. This book provides indepth thoughts on how to design usable items (not necessarily software) and how not to design usable tools. Many issues are adressed and the author shows a profound knowledge of the topics at hand (which is to be expected since he is teaching design for... many years). His writing is concise, yet humourous, which is a definite plus in my opinion. Every software engineer worth his money should be required to read this book! "

More details about this item can be found here: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany.

  • The "comment" feature is not meant to degenerate into a kind of news system. It will be shut down once again (and probably forever) if people once more start abusing it. The idea behind the "comment" feature is to provide Thomas Biskup with helpful comments about how well RFEs are received and about how bugs might be fixed and nothing else!
