I like the layout. It brings you in the right mood for playing the game. Assuming it is a medieval setting. ;)

Hint: Yes, it’s a medieval setting. Related to this blog ;-)

I think it looks pretty great. Mock-ups for the tabletop game rulebook, I assume?

Of course, I would personally prefer that the art look more like http://www.adom.de/adom/gallery.php3 , but I may be slightly baised…

    ADOM:RPG rulebook :> ? Nice… That was fast.

Layout’s not bad. However, I’d prefer a more simplistic version. Say, the parchment background, the font and those red letters (how are these called?), but *not* the decoration at the side. The deco is so distracting.

Or, if you really want to include it, maybe try to make it semi-transparent and very-very bright, so that it’s a bit like a watermark or something.

Btw, wouldn’t have hurt to make those three pictures full-size, would it?

hmm I disagree with Epythic, I like the decoration :). In fact, I’d like the picture’s to be more medieval-like (as if it’s drawn) too. Wouldn’t dislike no decoration at all though, but not semi-transparent.
imo you have to be clear about what you want in art, not a bit of both, but or this or that. Full-size would be nice indeed ;)

Wow, that’s beautiful. It must be really expensive to print something like that in full colour, though.

    It’s looking promising Thomas.

But… c’mon man! ADoM iPhone app! Sure it would prob. have to be reworked, a little stripped down and not just a straight port… but I guarantee I’ll pay you for it! :D

I like the layout as well, even the over-the-top decorations, but the images don’t really fit in. The problem is not with the pics per se, but with the way they are embedded in the page; everything else has this old-book-feel visually, but the pictures have right angles and oddly haven’t aged as much as the rest of the book. I think all it would take is add borders to them… Maybe the picture embedding on this page is a helpful example: http://eu.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/environments/tristram.xml

Ugh… when are you going to work on something we care about like the PC GAMES JADE &/OR ADAM

  • 11 TromboneAndrew // Jun 7, 2009 at 12:09 am

    It looks fine to me.

Technically, that isn’t a medieval look; it’s a traditional D&D fantasy-like look. Real medieval books look a little different; having everything hand-drawn definitely makes a difference, especially with the presentation of images.
