Possible bug with apish corruption?
"You look apish" corruption seems to occur *very* rarely... if at all any more

Having been through a few hundred Chaos Knights in prereleases 9-11, I have never seen the corruption "You seem to be stepping backwards in evolution"/"You look somewhat apish" in these versions.
It seems strange because I have seen every other known corruption several times, in more-or-less equal measure (so I'm pretty sure it's not down to the new 'corruptions subsets' system).

I'm wondering, then, is there some sort of bug that is preventing this corruption from ever being "granted" in later versions?
I'm not sure exactly what the earliest version this started happening in was... but I can confirm that this is not the case in pr4, but might be in pr9.

If anyone playing pr9 or later *has* seen this corruption, then this can be marked as not a bug.

EDIT: It just seems to be a case where Chaos Knights don't start off with the corruption, but it is still possible to get it during the game.

Well, I can vouch for having it in p7 (I think), so if this is a bug, that should narrow it down some.

Strange, I checked pr7, same situation for me. I presume that if a char can pick it up along the way, then a CK should be able to be generated with it as well?

Oh, kaaaay... I just managed to get a character to pick it up along the way in pr11. The corruption's still alive and well, then.
I still have never seen a CK start with it, though. Could be a case that when corruptions are randomly picked for a CK at the start of the game, this is handled as a different case to a corruption randomly selected when the PC acquires a certain amount of corruption points? Maybe a bug in selecting starting corruptions for CKs?

That sounds plausible.

How many CKs would you have to generate to have a statistically valid sample?

Answer: Lots
I created many human male Chaos Knights. Some corruptions were frequent, others rare.
e.g. only once had gills, voice of chaos whispers, stiff muscles.
Never apish.
Did not check all possible corruptions to see if there are others missing.
Chaos voice whispering occurred very late, so it's possible not all corruptions are equally probable.

I've recently tinkered with character generation program (legitimate generation without memory access) and rolled 20000 human CKs.

Here are the results (raw occurence in the starting set):
Code:
{'tough scales': 2149, 'babbling mouth': 2167, 'have stiffened': 2077,
'freezingly cold': 2122, 'hate the sun': 2134, 'from bronze': 2104,
'one larger eye': 2068, 'grown thorns': 2071, 'flesh of Order': 2110,
'state of decay': 2180, 'corrupted tissue': 2141, 'bulging cranium': 2112,
'sport gills': 2110, 'attached to ChAoS': 2104, 'turned black': 2089,
'Poison drips': 5458, 'voice of ChAoS': 2095, 'into hooves': 2177,
'maggots': 2070, 'You rage': 2067, 'fragile stilts': 2056,
'astral space': 2226, 'mists of ChAoS': 2164, '10 extra eyes': 2123,
'thin and nimble': 2168, 'very light': 4438, 'sweat blood': 2122,
'grown horns': 2129, 'antennae explore': 2104, 'tentacles': 2114,
'mana battery': 4470, 'unholy aura': 2084,
'exhale sulphur': 2182, 'turned to acid': 2011}
No apish corruption and notice the increased chance of occurence for poison hands, mana battery and very light corruptions.

This seems to be intentional, so we have to wait for a comment from Thomas.

Ahh, I actually thought of that after I posted the 'bug' report. I also noticed that most characters seem to get it only as one of their last corruptions, or the very last one. (If this is intentionally the case, then the CK 'problem' would be because of this) Maybe to balance the huge effect it has on stats over time?

It's intentional. Apish always should be the last corruption before total conversion to a writhing mass of prima chaos.
