Piety Scumming
It's still possible to get ridiculous amounts of piety

This is the method:
Use any piety scumming method to get your piety to -1 billion or so.
Change alignment.

Because losing piety by praying grants you piety to the other two gods, you gain ridiculous amounts of piety. I propose a simple solution: At low enough piety (~-100000), make the gods do something nastier, like summon AND hit you with a non-elemental bolt. Nobody will hit this number accidentally, but it'll stop those who are trying to scum from doing it so easily.

I think piety (both positive and negative) should just be capped at some sensible number. No overflow, no piety abuse, just a sensible max.

Make gods send extremely experienced balors/gray slayers/solars to deal with the blasphemer!
5d10 such monsters depending on alignment should be enough of a threat to anybody attempting piety overflow.
Additionally they would be summoned monsters so no exp and no drops.

The problem is that solars, at least, can't break locked doors. Not sure about things like darkness / invisibility either.

But if they are summoned like greater molochs are summoned when you wish for emperor moloch, then the moment they appear, they could surround the PC, so doors or no doors, this would be a nasty surprise.

There's wands of door creation for that.

The suggestion in the first post is the simplest and most effective. Doors or not, you'd no longer be able to get tons of piety by holding the '_' key (with Fast_More enabled), which is the basis of this trick.
