Make exploration mode truly free

People have been complaining about the limited number of wishes in exploration mode, see e.g.: http://steamcommunity.com/app/333300...scn=1447808443

I'll increase the number of wishes to 666 :-)

I'd like to further suggest an increase to 777. That number indicates luck (jackpot!) and works as a stealth reference to the Casino with the added benefit that it won't offend anyone. Wishes are meant to be a good thing, after all ;)

My support for this too. I don't care much about this number myself (and this mode) but some of my friends would be offended or even frightened so that they unlikely would play ADOM further.

Seriously? 666 offends people? I'm ... speechless.

Ok, we are back to 42 :-)

Playing in this mode is something demonic so I think 666 is appropriate.

I won't complain about the answer to the great question of life, the universe and everything, though.

Nowadays with the rise of political correctness, people are offended by ANY thing. No matter what you do, someone will get offended by it.

As for the topic - 500-1000+ charges sounds good to me.

There are definitely some people who are upset by the number 666. However...

- Very few, if any of them, will be roguelike gamers. They tend not to be the kind of geeky critical thinkers that this type of game attracts.
- I really don't care if these people do get upset.

...all the same, I must grudgingly admit that this is a valid if very minor concern. Even if my attitude would be 'to hell with them' - literally in this case. :)

Yep, they're. Some of them giving to much meaning to numbers. 3 and 12 are just good numbers. 42 is an answer :), 777 is jackpot, 13 is unlucky number (e.g. how much of your friends wouldn't buy a flat with number 13?) but 666 is a very ChAOtIc CorRUpTiNG dEMoniC number, it's better to avoid completely or show it only in a very chaotic late-game areas with a possibility to defeat source of it.

I know at least one girl. She plays roguelike games from time to time. She tried ADOM and she likes NotEye version. She would use exploration mode. The only thing she ignores in ADOM completly and doesn't like - religion system. She would be upset by 666 here.

Why not make this number different from 666 to get a few more players into the game which fall into this category? Those who play exploration mode just want to have fun without savescumming, artmoney and afraid of death. 666 is nothing for ones but for a few players its a punishment which isn't just cancels that fun.

I know there could be tons of another arguments which desribe how chaotic ADOM is... But changing this number is a simple change which doesn't make impression worse for all but make it better for some. Hence why not?

I don't mind the 666 reference, although I'm not sure how it fits in the game. What about 1000? It's a neat, round number, and should make enough wishes for everyone.

If something negatively affects some people, and makes no positive difference to anyone else, it's worth changing. Reason for my recent RFE, too.

666 being (wrongly) associated in a -lot- of the US and UK with a religious concept of evil is definitely a potential offender, so I flagged it up. Honestly it just seemed unnecessary.
I'd love to see a ridiculous number of wishes on the wand to prevent anyone else saying that it's too limited, so over 100 is a good place to start from - I wasn't suggesting that it reverted back to the original, lower total, but changing it to an ingame reference (like 777 for the Casino or 1000 for a round number or anything else notable) is better than just changing it ;)

Exactly. ADOM is about playing the game as you wish, and taking small drawbacks as challenges is actively encouraged, so it's open to almost everyone.
