Statue gave corruption (living mana battery) - can pick up/use wands freely
I kicked the statue "You stumble upon a statue. It is made of some unnatural watery substance which streams without losing its form. The statue seems to be vaguely familiar to you. ..."

Which gave me a corruption of living mana battery, but I am able to pick up and use wands freely. I don't know if it still confers over the 80% spell cost reduction (no spells with this character). I have save game backup if needed

I don't think I was, but to my recollection thick gauntlets don't affect this. In my ultra I recently played I got this same corruption organically and it indeed drained all my wand charges as expected, even when wearing thick gauntlets

Negative. Thick gauntlets do not stop mana battery in R63.

Do you still have the save file and could provide it?

I just checked the source code and there is absolutely no way to bypass the corruption. And in my test game it worked.

Got it! The statue was the culprit. Either Jochen or I used the wrong way to corrupt the PC. Fixed!
