Vortex warning messages gone
Distant wind messages seem to be gone

Vortices don't seem to keep any noise in R65. The "you hear a distant wind" message is a lifesaver especially in the early game, because once you see a vortex it's usually too late to start running.

Considering the nastiness of this change, I have a hard time believing it was deliberate. Thus, reporting it as a bug.

Come to think of it, I'm commenting to verify this. I haven't seen the messages either. I just realized I got the Forge messages confused with the Vortex messages. So, Forge ("you hear the wind howling" or something to that effect) still shows up, Vortex doesn't.

Fixed. This was one of the complex side effects of introducing the new event queue (which replaced the internal REPL loop). Other messages were affected, too (e.g. crawling skin and proximity alert messages due to alertness).
