Extended walk into friendly monster automatically swaps place

When you walk towards a friendly monster with the w-{direction} command, you only stop after swapping places with the monster. E.g. walking towards an arena trader who is in the hallway leading to the arena side.

I'm fairly sure I've also killed neutral monsters this way.

Yep, happened to me now also (playing 3.0.0). Of course, I can't tell anymore whether it was neutral or hostile to start with.

Should it always stop before swapping or what would be your preferred behavior?

I think if it's going to stop your movement anyway it might as well stop before swapping.

Still seeing odd w- behavior in 3.0.2
For example, sometimes it asks to open the door, other times not.

Still happens in 3.0.2. Best way to see it in action is to w-walk into the icequeen from the start of her level... You will always be asked if you want to attack her.
