I just tried to run the NotEye version of release 81 on my Debian Stable, but it won't start, and gives the following error:
Code:
error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I get a hunch it is because my system offers libpng16 instead of libpng12. A Debian package search shows that the lib is still supported for the unstable branch, and used to be a part of stable, but not not any longer. So unless I've made a glitch myself, it seems like something that could affect many users. I don't know what the development status of libpng under Debian is, but recall having had similar problems with NotEye ADOM before. The problems just went away then, but considering the current stable Debian is quite young, this lib is probably not a moving target at the moment.
Other than that, the ASCII version seems to be running perfectly so far, so I'm personally happy :)
I'm running 9.1 (64 bit), which is the current stable release. 8 is the old stable branch, which uses the older version of the library, so that's a plausible explanation :)
I will update my Debian VMs to the latest version.
