"bite" = "stab"?

"The trollish ghul bites at you critically stabbing you".

Suggested alternatives to "stab":
  • lacerate
  • tear
  • shred
  • rend
  • wound, injure (could be used for generic wounds, if no specific action word like "cut", "stab", "pierce" is assigned)

I noticed that and thought it odd too--though I couldn't think of any words that were more suitable myself. Honestly, "wounding" or "injuring" are probably best.

I just realized that "rending you" doesn't sound right either.

If the grammar engine can handle it, I quite like the sound of "rending your flesh"

Well, Stab refers to the type of damage - he's biting you with pointy teeth after all.

Still, you're absolutely right there - getting bitten shouldn't sound like the guy is impaling you on a pole or something. The real question is - can custom attacks do custom damage messages?
