Add more variation to "Further life" section in the victory message

Currently the victory message gives a few details about the further life of the character, but the messages don't have that much variation for gate closers. Having more of these messages, dependent on race, class and alignment, would make the ending (at least to me) more rewarding and encourage people to try out combinations they haven't played before. Becoming a ruler would still be possible, maybe even more likely for certain classes (paladins, elementalists etc.), but other options might be selected too. Here are some examples/possibilities:

Racial considerations:

orc/dark elf/troll: it doesn't seem consistent the chaotic creatures would be obviously happy about the PC closing the chaos gate. Particularly if the character has become lawful, it doesn't make sense he/she would be made a ruler at all. And I reckon chaos would still exist in the hearts of dark elves despite the gate being closed, otherwise they'd be like other elves.

Lawful races: if the PC closes the gate and is neutral or, in particular, chaotic, the people would be happy but remain somewhat suspicious so the PC wouldn't become a ruler unless the charisma attribute is particularly high.

Classes:

Necromancer: became the king/queen of the undead domain (master necromancer?), commanding his/her army of Emperor Liches with fearsome efficiency.

Assassin: became the assassin prince[ss] ruling over all who try to change the world with poisoned daggers, and finally died of old age after avoiding several assassination attempts at his court

Priest: became an oracle of his religion

Wizard: became an archmage and a respected scholar. Maybe opened a mage school or something.

Farmer: (I know this is a fantasy game, but saying a farmer could become a king stretches my imagination a bit too much)

Bard: the future should have something about the musical skills, performing all over Ancardia etc. The message could also be dependent on the PC charisma/appearance attribute.

Merchant: sets up a business empire?

Monk: retired in a monastery or a cave rather than became a ruler

Druid: lived in harmony in the Ancardian woods

I like the idea though some of the proposed changes are a bit of a downgrade versus the current message.
Each class would have to have something of almost equal grandeur to being a king of all *foo*.

For example, I'd see assassin as leading an elite crew of life takers and adjusting history via high-profile assassinations of powerful people and single-handedly changing fates of nations, to better or worse depending on alignment.
Monks could become the ones to write scrolls of omnipotence and become great scribes.
Wizards would become archmages powerful enough to challenge deities.
Druids could influence all animal life in the world to resist chaos in the future.
Paladins could establish an order of holy protectors against future incursions of the forces of chaos.

This is doable with lots of room for nice additions and of all the people, TB would be the one to figure out how to best personalize each class' ending.

Anyway, yes from me.

I like those suggestions, except maybe the monk one seems a bit vague (not that my own ideas are anything more than tentative). The monk story is problematic because they've taken the vow of poverty and maybe wouldn't consider being a ruler the best possible outcome, but I can't imagine exactly what would be a great ending. Another thing that needs to be considered is what happens to chaos in Ancardia after the gate has been closed.

As for whether a change would be a downgrade, I think some classes just might prefer a destiny somewhat different. And chaotic characters might simply enjoy adding a bit of chaos in the world, even if they didn't want Ancardia to be consumed by it.

Here are some further suggestions, not all of them that serious:

Bards could write plays and stories about their adventures during the time of chaos, stories that are still read centuries later after the rulers of his time have been forgotten.

Weaponsmiths could also create legendary weapons. Chaotic weaponsmiths... well, if they're still chaotic, they could make weapons that could destroy the whole planet ;)

Thieves don't need to become kings because they can steal anything from the king's treasury. Or anything else they want, be it ancient artifacts or rare scrolls. The point is that they might find it more fun to plan casino robberies etc. than to control their people.

Rangers would still want to stay close to nature. "A fighter preferring natural environments" makes me think of Indiana Jones type of adventurers. They could become explorers who chart unknown continents and discover ancient treasures.

Paladins could become religious leaders, considering religion is what makes them different from other fighters. Or becoming kings, they'd focus specifically on spreading their religion.

Healers become renowned for developing a vaccine against the calamitous Drakalor Chain plague.

Elementalists become able to harness the power of the elements to such an extent that once dangerous powers can be used all over Ancardia to improve the quality of life.

Druids become influential thinkers who teach all the races to live in harmony (and keep those elementalists in check ;))

Reached the ultimate state of peace and enlightenment?

(I'm thinking about the equivalent of becoming a Buddha in Buddhism)

Enlightenment probably isn't ok because it refers to an existing religion. Maybe something like "Reached a higher plane of existence". Judging from the way religion is presented in the game, it's probably intentional that all the concepts (altars, praying, gods, priests, monks) are generic enough to exist in many religions. It's also less offensive. At best there's a parallel in ancient polytheistic beliefs like the Greek or Norse pantheon which aren't offensive because they're considered mythology rather than religion. For the same reason priests can't become popes or bishops in the further life. So the problem is to make the descriptions generic enough to fit the ethos of the game, and yet not so generic they'd be just lame.

The same applies to merchants building business empires and some other things I suggested. Modern economic or political concepts don't seem to have a place in Ancardia. Changing these short messages would have a small effect on how people will understand the Adom world after they've won, so it's surprisingly difficult to think of solutions that wouldn't be too far from how it appears now.

Yes, I tried to make it generic but I probably didn't succeed. Not being a native speaker doesn't help with these subtleties :)

But anyway you get the idea, I'm suggesting a description that says that the player reached some transcendental state, analogous to what the Buddhists could call Nirvana, but without saying that.
