Order items of the same type sequentially in inventory
Currently inventory does not group copies of same item.

Right now I have two wands of digging, and they are at different ends of my wand list. It would be a lot easier to find things if all items if there was a sort command to group all items of the same type together in sequence, i.e. all wands of digging, then all wands of the next type, and so on, applied to all item types.

Especially by endgame where you have 10's of items in one category and it can be very difficult to find out how many of something you have.

EDIT: list items alphabetically so you can find things easily too! I almost forgot!

So, for a sorted missiles in inventory, you would have:
arrows of construct slaying minor variation 1
arrows of construct slaying minor variation 2
arrows of contruct slaying minor variation 3

arrows of dragon slaying minor variation 1
arrows of dragon slaying minor variation 2
arrows of dragon slaying minor variation 3

arrows of jelly slaying minor variation 1
arrows of jelly slaying minor variation 2
arrows of jelly slaying minor variation 3

crossbow bolts and their variations next, because bolts starts with b

rocks and their variations next, because rock starts with r

This will really pay off with potions/rings where you have a ton of them and want to check for x type.

Sounds like a good idea. ..So, should identified items pop to the top of the list? (So that un-identified items are are bunched at the bottom?) This seems like the sensible way to have it, to me. I'm curious if anyone has other ideas though.

I think unided items should be at the bottom.
In a regular use scenario you typically first consider identified items so they should be at the top.

Can't you use the word item filter (added in pr21) for this?

No because sometimes you want to take a look at all the items in one category and see how many of each type you have and then make a decision what to use.
It would be much easier if there was some coherence in how the items are displayed instead of a random pool where it's easy to miss something.
Word filter is good for one specific item type but not for several possible choices.

Yes.

Reduce item variety RFE -> bad.

This RFE -> good. Unarguably good.

Just to be clear, this was auricbond's idea. You probably already knew that, but if anyone gets credit for having a good idea on this it should be him.

I like this idea.

I dislike the fact that this idea would make dipping stuff more annoying because of the placement of holy waters in the list. A lot of extra pluses required there.
