Apparently I've had rough luck tonight. The mad carpenter was already dead, presumably killed by the Troll who had the hatchet and manual. I've never had this happen before, and was wondering if he is supposed to be safe from hostile monsters, and if not, I think he probably should be.

There is a chance I suppose he hit a trap right when I entered his level, but I don't remeber hearing anything go off.
