Casino Robbing made harder
It seem just a bit *too* easy to rob the casino.

I would like it if Hugo, the Big Casino Bouncer were made teleportation resistant, and possibly, that teleporting him would make the Casino hostile. It seems too easy to rack up millions (or billions) of gold, buy what you want, teleport the guard and go. And the staff there is okay with it. They are running a racket there and can't be fooled so easily. They wouldn't like you leaving with all their money. Also, it seems exploitable that the billions of gold can be generated in a single turn, suffering no consequences (other than forcing the player to determine how to carry all the money), but a girdle of greed can often be found in the gift shoppe. Perhaps make it such that every 25 games is one turn? Tweak the number, but it seems that you should at least get some background corruption during the game.

The Casino marks the point where the game gets a whole lot easier for many of my characters. Much like having stable herbs is the point where I feel secure in the early game, the casino makes me feel secure in the late game. I can always get infinitely large amounts of gold to throw at Glod for training, pleasing my god for more prayers, and tons of restocks (if you have the patience) for misc. items (although there is significant corrupting involved in doing this). My ideas for changing the casino may not be perfect as is, but I think it should be make a tiny bit more difficult. I feel like I've just kick-robbed a shop, or been gremlin bombing after I put my cell phone on the keyboard for a few minutes while I go smoke to get a few million gold to buy whatever I want. I suppose my problem with the mechanic is that it seems to be intended. That's what you're supposed to do.

That's not the Casino problem, but a more global for shops. Robbing without generating thugs is super-easy and then you can just teleport on the stairs and be on your way. If we cut out this mechanic, it will be enough IMHO.

Also, nobody forces you to gamble. Personally, can't remember the last time I did it.

To rob without thugs you have to use magic out of LOS (or darkness) or confuse the shopkeeper first so he's becomes hostile, right? That's a fine way to rob the Casino (or any shop), but it just seems to easy in the Casino. Hugo stands on the stiars to prevent you from leaving after playing, and the wares are so overpriced that you can't buy much if you don't play. So to shop you have to play, and to leave you have to pay. Smart players find ways to leave, after playing, while keeping profits. Hugo (and the other guards) are ment to be a deterrent to this. Because he is so easily teleported (and there's a guaranteed wand of teleportation in the VDDL that many players get) it just makes it too easy IMO. If he were teleportation resistant (like Thundarr, for example) I think it would work closer to the intended way.

I agree with the problem of infinite gold, it completely imbalances the game. It has been reported here:

You don't even have to teleport him, Kyreles. All you have to do is play one more time at a random slot machine and lose. Hugo will move away from the stairs by himself if you do that.

@ Al-Khwarizmi - I didn't even look through bug reports, I just checked all the RFEs. Don't think it's a bug - it's working as intended, I just think the intentions should change

@ grobblewobble - Indeed. That, too, should be changed. I don't really want it to be impossible to get out of there with any cash, just seems like it isn't working like it should. Make the guards not quite so stupid. I don't even want it to be impossible to teleport Hugo, just a little harder.

I never did, though I might try it now dragon doubling is fixed in 1.2.0.

Agreed 100%, I would very much like to see that mechanic gone. "If you don't like it then don't use it" is no excuse for plainly bad game design / exploitable bug.

Well, you used a cunning strategy to rob the Casino. I don't think that should be discouraged.

@Gracek, I don't think it's a right idea to post URLs for online casino games at such forums...

You're most likely replying to a spambot.

Check "his" join date, also "he" seems to think this is a discussion about real casinos.

Yeah, most likely but didn't eliminate a possibility it's a real person trying to advertise it. Maybe spambots became to clever though. Anyways :)
