sort by spendability

As well as perhaps other sorting options, on level up skill selection have the ability to sort skills by the value that is the maximum value of a skill minus its current value -- and have it remember your sorting choice between levels.

Here's an example orcish mindcrafter; find weakness and stealth are at the top (95-52 = 43, 100-57 = 43) and concentration is at the bottom (100 - 100 = 0).
Code:
-------------------- Choose a skill to improve (1 out of 4) --------------------

     A - Find weakness .... 52 [Max.: 95, +1] (good)
     B - Stealth .......... 57 [Max.: 100, +1d3] (good)
     C - Haggling ......... 35 [Max.: 75, +4d5] (fair)
     D - Herbalism ........ 56 [Max.: 92, +1d3] (good)
     E - Backstabbing ..... 67 [Max.: 100, +1d3] (good)
     F - Metallurgy ....... 10 [Max.: 43, +3d5] (poor)
     G - Mining ........... 13 [Max.: 45, +3d5] (mediocre)
     H - Listening ........ 70 [Max.: 100, +3d3] (good)
     I - First aid ........ 31 [Max.: 58, +2d4] (fair)
     J - Literacy ......... 79 [Max.: 100, +3d3] (great)
     K - Music ............ 35 [Max.: 52, +2d4] (fair)
     L - Gemology ......... 85 [Max.: 98, +1d5] (great)
     M - Healing .......... 44 [Max.: 56, +1d5] (fair)
     N - Climbing ......... 39 [Max.: 50, +1d5] (fair)
     O - Law .............. 49 [Max.: 55, +1d5] (fair)
     P - Concentration .... 100 (superb)

I think it's a bad sorting scheme because the difference between maximum and current only plays a role in your decision-making when they are very close together (i.e. some of your skill increase will be wasted). For instance, the maximum for find weakness could be as low as 56 (placing it at O) without really changing your skilling choices. You're not going to be able to max out first aid, so setting the max anywhere between 58 and 100 (A - I) wouldn't change your choices.

Filtering out the skills that can't be increased isn't a bad thing, but jumbling the rest is.

I guess, as long as it's an option. I wouldn't want items on the list moving around.

Sure, I made it clear it was optional.

Let's say I know that my initial skill advance choices are among four in particular, and I don't care which but would prefer to avoid spending wastefully. This sorting method would save my scanning through the list by pushing those I'd have no interest in advancing to the bottom.

I think there should be other sorting options as well, of course.

I'd stay indifferent. Should it be implemented - I'd never use it.
