Some Free Actions Can Trigger Auto-Pickup
Saying no to the prompt to enter water, and bumping into a wall both don't take any turns/time, but they trigger auto-pickup. Despite an energy cost of 2000 being displayed, it seems like the auto-pickup doesn't take any time in this case.
EDIT: Actually, the behavior with regards to energy cost looks the same as in r64 (the extra energy cost from picking up stuff is applied to your next action) - it's just that the display has been made misleading, as it adds the energy cost to the nonexistent bump and aborted dive, instead of the action taken next turn.
