I hate having to use wishes on common items :( But, if it's what you need, it's what you need.

I think I finished it over the course of a week or so. My turncount is 160k, so I'd guess I probably did maybe 16 hours total, since I think I usually play ~10k turns/hour.

I've been meaning to try this challenge for awhile, finally got around to it on pre10. Steelman requires you to spend the entire game in wilderness, without visiting any other locations. Moreover,...
I definitely missed that change. Crazy world.
The server has automatic backups every 1000 turns or so. One of the server people might be willing to lend you their code that you could modify for local usage.
[edit]The server code is linked...
Does it protect against spells? AFAIK, most of the available protections (eg. Pally/Necro class powers) only protect against physical attack stat drains--which aren't as big of a deal.
It's not like it matters if you get stat drained with all stats 99...
High luck (for sure) and Wi (IIRC) also help the PC resist stat drains. For monsters that need to hit you to stat drain like lesser undeads, good DV/PV is usually enough to make it completely...
The changes to herbs don't really affect stat drainers... Herbs can recover your stats as long as they are below potential and below 25. Stat drainers don't lower your potentials, so it's basically...
My doomed characters normally wear the crown of science when I can get it--I basically have to rely almost exclusively on artifact equipment due to item destruction problems. Double dooming makes...
Code dived info on luck:
+2 if PC is blessed
+3 if you have the lucky intrinsic (naturally)
+6 if you have the fate smiles intrinsic (naturally)
+1d12+1 if it's your PC's birthday
+2 for...
All of the benefits of the ankh stack with intrinsic properties. The bonuses from items are slightly worse than intrinsic, but not much. Curse/doom stack as well.
I don't think a guaranteed wish should be available under any circumstances. But having one so early in the game would just be... insane.
No, the real kicker is the ankh benefits--luck + Luck + Fate. That already gives you better confusion resistance that the -Conf your artifact offers, plus all of the other benefits of good luck. If...
I actually quite like the idea of making a quest mutually exclusive with the Pyramid, but you'd have to be out of your mind to trade the AMW and ankh for that artifact.
Just to be clear, I...
Unless you are using castings to kill every single rat and goblin, you should have plenty of the most common spells by midgame, though the rarer spells you may get low on if you use them often. In...
Playing a spellcaster is already playing ADOM on easy mode. What's the harm in making it easier?
Prayer costs increase roughly quadratically. If it costs 60k for your first precrown, it should cost on the order of 240k for your second.
It's also possible that an artifact was generated that...
My first thought was "Those rewards look way too good". My second thought was "I'm still not going to do the minotaur maze for them".
I said a powerful missile attack. Think titan. Rahetep does sickness, snake does poison as do other uniques such as hotz.
HPcasting abuses both of these stats quite badly now...
I was also thinking something similar to a swamp. Except that I'd add in some suggestions that:
-The "swamp" part is an outdoor area, and many of the effects are treated as...
In the particular GUV design that this PC died in, the best way to clear it is high Wi ball spells. You don't need to open the vault at all--just stand around the edges and spam fireballs until all...
Wands of poison work on him as of pre10. I was under the impression that blindness still worked but confusion did not, but I could have that backwards.
