Oh shit that's annoying! I'm guessing you're playing ASCII so the Altar looked exactly like a rift?
No altar generation no D:48 might be a worthy RFE...
Perhaps my memory is off - I haven't eaten a kobold [without herbs on standby] for over 10 years after all...
So IIRC prayers used to be fairly useless for sickness (lower priority than healing, and the fever always re-damaged you after prayer. Looks like that changed at some point...
Running around PC6...
I guess I'll play some more to see if I did something dumb like not saving adom.cfg. If it reoccurs I'll file a bug report. Thanks!
Just started playing on Mac. Playing melee characters and got obliterated by an early vile spirit so decided to turn them off.
Edited my adom.cfg and added the bottom line:
Starvation_Warning...
Check your kill count in the monster memory for likely first kills (skeleton, giant bat, goblin rockthower, etc.) Then decide if a dive is worthwhile, and what level you're going to give up on. (eg...
If going ULE, I make sure to get the amulet of order from the Sheriff, and save resolving the puppy quest until I'm trying to get to L+. (It doesn't take care of the whole thing but it helps.) Can't...
You know, when I first saw you'd commented on this thread after me the first time, I expected a bloody stupid argument. At least you're consistent through the years.
"Some people see difficulty...
Only 2% of Steam players have an ADOM win, compared to say, the 23% that hit level 10. So I'd say a huge proportion of the player base struggle to get far into the game.
Depends a bit how you define difficulty. Having scored many wins and ultras, I define it by how hard it is to win the game (as opposed to how hard it is to survive for a while).
I find Dark Elves...
That seems fair - RFE it?
Bracers, cap, boots all look smithed to varying degrees.
I'd guess he just didn't scum for ore at all.
Not a roguelike, no. I suspect that you would enjoy Planescape: Torment (and the upcoming Numenera: Torment) but they're graphical RPGs.
I played it some. It was fun for a while, but I could never consistently stay alive like I can in ADOM - I always seemed to be prone to seemingly unfair YASDs. Maybe I just wasn't as good as I...
...instead of L+.
Auto-dropped the ToRR and died.
L50 DE Barbarian, 1000+HP (boosted to 1400), Physical stats all around 50 (boosted to 70-80 each). Speed 110ish, boosted to 220 with Alchemy...
Thanks!
Also I need a light source right, in case of Grue? Torch or something?
Having sacrificed the AMW to the ratling, I now need to choose whether to use Celestrix or an Amulet of Death Ray Resistance in the fight vs Andy. My next best girdle is +0/+6 and if I free up the...
He's always been a goddamn monster!
I can't remember if poisoned ammo was effective?
Just started this tonight; Gnomish Raven Wizard currently on DD:6 and precrowned with Nature' Companion. 500+ castings of Acid Bolt and Magic Missile. So far, so good. :)
All of the above.
Personally I like to mix with Europa Universals 4, Civilization 4 (never got into 5) and Dota 2.
Had you killed a lot of the Ice Queen's other monsters? I recall that area getting nastier the more you kill.
I guess I've handled the cat lord with things like webs and poison, could probably pull something similar with Kherab. I wouldn't try a stand-up fight though!
Seriously?! How are you regularly killing him under level 20 with most classes? I can see slaying ammo doing the job but otherwise... it takes a lot to take him down, and he can crit you to death...
Yeah, he's a monster! I never even think about it unless I'm very, very lategame (levelling to 45/50 or something).
