Thread: Shop cost reduction

    Default Shop cost reduction

People here may already know this, but you can dip unpaid items in things without penalty, at least in the casino. Most notably you can curse things by dipping them in unholy water to get a reduction in price of about 30%. Granted it's pretty pointless 90% of the time since the cost usually isn't the issue in shops, but I thought I'd share anyway.

a interesting thing, didn't know about this. However you really should post it here http://www.adom.de/forums/showthread.php?t=1155&page=49 It fits that topic quite nicely.
I haven't yet finished an ADOM game, but i haven't given up on trying yet either.

Hmmm. Wonder how that would work with cursed scrolls of
repair? Break a spellbook of acid ball, pay half, it still should
    work fine : )
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

I do this all the time when I find artifacts. In reality it's not really a big deal though as the slots give you essentially unlimited gold.

Exactly. Plus Holy Water can be more valuable than gold at that point. Thought the SoRs might be worthwhile earlier in the game...

Yeah, I know it's not a big deal after of get to the Casino, since then gold doesn't matter. Before then though, I am often trying to save gold since between Garth, pre-crownings, crowning and Yergius I never seem to find a shortage of things to buy in the early-mid game. Still, I don't really expect it to revolutionize anyone's gameplay, I just though it was interesting and I'd share.

What happens if you dip something in a potion of exchange, or a potion of raw chaos?

If you improve the value of an item (say turning water into poison) then you end up with the merchant's guild owing you money, which also bugs the score to give you a ridiculous number of points if you win the game.

Has that been fixed in the server? I see people with a ridiculous number of points but it looks like they're well-deserved..

I don't think anyone's used the bug on the server. The high point scorers on the server are for archmages and low turncount victories.
