    Default Ookayyy

I'm thinking this may have been a bug. Drank a blessed potion of boost toughness. Shoved me up to 143 hp.
As soon as I got the first message announcing that it was wearing off my hit points went negtive and I died. Character was a fifteenth level human bard original toughess 14 hp 98

Um. What was your death message? This might be an addition for the "ways to die" thread.

It's not a bug per se -- Toughness boosts your hitpoints, and when it goes away it'll reduce your hitpoints back down by the same amount.

Someone never played a barbarian in D&D. Boosted Con != temporary hitpoints.
I said it before, and I'll say it again. If I knew scripture like you, I'd prolly be an athiest too.. -gut

In what manner are D&D barbarians relevant to this topic?
ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

In that their berserker rage gave extra HP (undr 2ED rules, dunno about 3E). At the end they were taken away, so if you had less than 0 at the moment, tough luck.

3.5 works the same - the hit points gained are -not- the first to be lost, so even if you gained, say 8 HP from raging, and took 8 damage, you'd lose 8 more after the rage wears off. I think that's how the toughness boost death works here.
