Also, the statistics mined from brinkster hall of fame:
    http://docs.google.com/View?id=ddf9smx7_17xw85shf2
    Interesting.
this statistic makes me wonder if gnomish thief is such an obvious idea that people don't play them at all, or rather that they don't care about brinkster... lack of orkish weaponsmiths is also weird, in my opinion

Orcish weaponsmith isn't as good as drakeling or dwarven weaponsmith - smiths already have Find Weakness, after all.

    Racial Preferences:

    Dark Elves > Drakelings >> Gnomes > Hurthlings > Grey Elves > Humans > Trolls > Meh.

I have grown increasingly fond of the Alertness skill as time has gone by.

    Drakelings >> everything else
There is no class that a drakeling is not perfect for.

I do sometimes like gnomes though...

Are there any stats on the starsign?
Candle, obviously would be the most popular, but I wonder what the other ones would be?

    > There is no class that a drakeling is not perfect

For bards and merchants their Ch (and Ap) is too
low, for archers their Dx is too low, for elementalists
their Ma is too low, for necro their Wi is too low.

since when these punny stats [starting] matters?

Basically drake born in Candle is optimal. Unless you have reason to anything else.
So far rolled 15 casters with RoDS and shamelessly killed them within 200 turns. For eternium glory!
    (after 15 I stopped counting...)

My experience of trying to order around my
killer bug pet with a drake was the last one
like that I'll ever have, and it was due to Ch.

I'd say drake rangers are rather suboptimal actually, since rangers already start with alertness, food pres, and swimming. Orc and dark elf have much better gear and skillset.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.
