    FOOD SHORTAGE IN THE TOTHK!
    Ok, so lately my little dude seems to be tearing through food. I got the spell, "Strength of Atlas," and it seems like it's going to help me out, unfortunately I have no food and my guys food intake seems to have jumped up considerably, even though I stay below burdened 90% of the time. Does food intake go up as the game progresses? Anyway, I have no food, I am basically staying on UC 4 and UC 5, as they have decent regen rates and I am just able to avoid starvation with the random corpse or food stuff that gets dropped. Now, I used to save myself from the no food crisis by casting, "Summon Monster," but it is all the way at "W" when I go to my spell list, and for some reason spell "W" can NEVER BE CAST! The "W" key on my computer works, as you can see, but not when I am casting spells. It works when I want to check my weapon skill levels or see my melee damage, but not in the spell menu. It is killing me, and leaves me depending on corpses and food drops, as I stated above, which BARELY keeps me alive. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do here? I don't have any more prayers left to use for divine satiation and I am out of ideas. Please, please, please, please, please advise/assist. Thank you ahead of time!

    Regeneration if you need to regenerate hp (duh), otherwise use the bracers of toughness.

    Also, blessed weapons do x1.5 dmg against demons and undead (same with missiles).


    edit: Corrupted tissue corruption also causes scars which reduce your dexterity heavily over time. Farm some moss roots (uncursed/blessed train Dex till 25) for the future too if you plan to keep the corruption.

    Thank you so much for the heads up regarding the tissue corruption. I thought I had lucked out big time with my corruptions, but I can see the loss of dexterity being a problem down the road. I have 10 blessed scrolls of chaos resistance, should I just wipe out all my corruptions? I don't really need them. I believe I will, thanks again. As for regeneration, I restore 1 hp per 61 turns, that is what it says when I cast revelation anyway, is that adequate? Please advise/assist, thank you.

    Keep those corruptions, they are all good as long as you have teleport control and moss to restore the lost Dx.
    I said it before, and I'll say it again. If I knew scripture like you, I'd prolly be an athiest too.. -gut

    All right, I will have to find some more herbs, I ran out at this point, I'll come across some sooner or later, hopefully sooner. My storage spot for all my loot, atm, is the spot you have to teleport to in Dwarftown, to get that artifact axe (I didn't get it this time, perhaps because I'm a wizard?). I'm assuming this spot is safe to leave my loot in, as the guy who gives you the axe left after giving me some goodies, is it? Anyway, I am at this moment retrieving the dead puppy's corpse for the little girl, so any more advise, especially regarding my regen rate, is appreciated. Thanks again.

    Only lawfuls get the axe.

    This is why I like neutrals, they can get the 4 SoCR's like chaotics but don't have the nasty side effects chaotic have (stupid crowning etc.)

    Yeah, with Big Punch, I'm not missing the axe too badly, and the SOCR are much more useful in the long run, how is my regen, btw, 1 per 61 turns? Please let me know, thank you. I need to get food preservation too, that is going to be a side goal of mine for the immediate future. My guy is starving too often, I have had to summon monsters as a tactic to get food all day today. As a matter of fact, I headed east to buy out the village food supplier, but it never lasts long enough now that I'm run out of stomafillia.

    Well, considering that you have a healing spell, I think it makes more sense to do toughness, myself.

    1 per 61 turns is misleading, that is just your natural regeneration rate due to being an elf. It doesn't include the bracers or the healing skill IIRC. Healing skill at 100 alone is 1 per 8 turns.

    [edit]Honestly, you'd probably be best off dual wielding shields on coward and using magic for the rest of the game. There's really no reason for you to ever fight in melee at this point unless you want to. It's fine for clearing out weak mobs, but anything serious you should be using spells.

    I used to always play dual shield on coward setting, with wizards, but not anymore. I enjoy having the ability to melee, use bows and use spells if I run into any trouble. Also, if I play on normal, my shield skill goes up, which it doesn't if I'm running around on coward. Trust me though, if I'm going against some beast of a monster, I can easily throw on another shield switch to coward and blast away with my spells, I just rarely find the need to do so. I like saving my spells also, as much as possible, unless going against a stat drain monster or as I said earlier, some huge adventurer eating beast of a monster.

    Ok, just counted for myself, I gain 1-2 hp per turn w/ the bracers of regen and 1-2 hp per every 2-4 turns without the bracers of regen. Perhaps it is more worth it to keep the bracers of regen on, rather than use the bracers of toughness to gain 20 or so hp.
