Oh my, it looks like my bard for the THUS game is a disaster waiting to happen. I let ants dig out most of PC 2, gave Khelly the amulet (luckily nothing bad happened) and currently have 6 eternium ingots and several iron ones sitting in the dwarftown smithy. I guess the first thing I will do when I get to my character again is to make a backup of the save file.

without reading the rest of the thread, I want to reply to this one, as I think that would be the best way to do it. Some possible variation: Just overwrite the savefile each time you enter a level. I mean, there is no reason to consider visiting ID levels or levels visited before as non-progress.

And save time is not really an issue, I suppose (see, such a file has the tremendous size of ~100kb at most). Also put some flag in there to switch the feature on and off, or save every x levels, if you like.

EDIT: I wonder, if there is a way of recording adom's memory state and recovering it, so it might be implemented without the source code...

How do you think adombot works? Although extracting all Adom memmory is another problem...
So far rolled 15 casters with RoDS and shamelessly killed them within 200 turns. For eternium glory!
    (after 15 I stopped counting...)

Yes, and the server would be using it if I wasn't too lazy to fix some things about it... http://http://cryopid.berlios.de/

Actually the cryopid images are being generated on the server even now. Only the restore system isn't in place. I have to copy some temp files to make it work properly, that's why...

I don't claim to follow this, but it sounds like a worthwhile cause. If you should change your mind, and there's anything any of us could do to help with it, please let us know.
