Where does it say that in the improved guidebook? (the only reason i use that code-dived junk is because it's easier to use)
When in darkness, you can always see the light (unless you're in ADOM)

Most successful combos for me: Grey elf wizards, trollish healers, dark elf beast-fighters, Gnomey monks, and any race barbarians.

Brings to mind a funny post from back in the brinkster days.
Someone mentioned a theory about why drakes took damage
in the ToEF's. They then mentioned that with woodcrafting at
100, a player should be able to fashion a cork and 'U'se it, as
a means of preventing said damage. They didn't suggest that
the cork was to go in the drakes mouth.
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

A certain class power of the Weaponsmith can do that on sight. Unfortunately it comes pretty late for any real use and is sort of silly (the si is adamantium, but can't be melted; same with the Chaos Orbs =/)
Luck is for those who need it.

improved my morning quite a bit
So far rolled 15 casters with RoDS and shamelessly killed them within 200 turns. For eternium glory!
    (after 15 I stopped counting...)

Make sure, if your'e a drakeling, that you never fart in the ToEF. Make sure you get your woodcrafting skill up, and fashion a cork out of a wooden stick, then hit (u) to use it. Save one for the library too.

Or maybe that's why they get the speed boost, they're like rocket-propelled reptiles. Metabolism indeed.
