    1st tier.
Book Local Undead Troll Barbarian. Took long stride. AND WOW. 36 str 31 to. 1380xp to level up from 1 to 2. I rushed to big room and got there at about 800 turns. Had to use a prayer to get away from 1 health from that darksage I ignored. The only herbs there were were antidotes, so I wasted a prayer and just left. First arena fight at about 1600. I went true berserk the whole time, as my armor only gave 2 PV. Got Sparkidius. I decided to use the gladius for defense reasons.
    21: Gray ooze
    22: Cave lion
    23: Forgot
    24: Hell hound
    25: Large orc
    26: Hyena
    27: Large jackal
28: Corrupter (brought me down to 28 health)
    29:Fire beetle
    30: Cave lion
    31: Stone Giant
    32: Stone Giant...
33: Ratling warlord. Was kind of hard. I killed him with rocks.
    34: Giant slug
    35: Ratling fences
    36: Barbarian leader
Somehow all the monster names above this, but I djied on the last fight to a doppleganger king.

Okay, here's my weak character: Kagar, the trollish farmer, born in Salamander. Starts with Hardy and Tough Skin.

Starts off fine, I explore the lower CoC as best as I can in the timeframe. Dog, the large dog gets killed by a dwarf, but he wasn't much use anyways since he didn't really have a job beside Kagar, and even less so in this challenge. I try to gather rocks since I find a sling, but no bow (which would be better since I know fletchery) and by the time I start fighting, I gather a few rocks - precisely 3 (I get 8 more at the 10th fight, but not at the start). Not enough, unfortunately, so I start whacking away. But before that, I put a few points into Gardening and plant my herb seeds. I get morgia and pepper petal from the 2x2. The pepper petal might be good to heal.

Gladius fight: Spardakius! Woot! He goes down easily, although I throw a rock at him beforehand, I do the most of the job in melee. Then I decide I might as well true berserk since I still have 8 PV without it (30 To). The tactic is to neutralize tough monsters with hugely damaging strikes of my heavy club.

    21: Dark orc.
22: Stone statue. Brings me down to 23/70 somehow, with a fire breath and a critical hit probably.
    23: Fire drake.*
    24: Werewolf.
    25: Caveman.
    26: Black hurthling.
    27: Swordsman.
28: Dwarven chaos knight. He deals quite a bit of damage but I deal more.
    29: Caveman.
    30: Orc.
31: Chaos spider. What the fuck? This one was on steroids. He took me down from 35 or so hitpoints to below 0 when he was already severely injured. Oh well. So much for Kagar. He was better than I'd have thought.

*Went down in 1 true berserking hit.

And the average one: Shlak, the Falcon-born female drakish assassin. He took several speed talents (I was leaving this one for last since I was hoping for a Raven starsign, but this way I'm still relatively fast).

Unfortunately the preparation stage isn't too eventful, I get a standard horned helmet though. Also a few scrolls.

20th fight: Ripclaw, the troll. I throw my 5 daggers at him, and spit some acid -> only slightly injured. Also, poison doesn't work either since he regenerates too fast, apparently. He gets back to "not injured" after two consequent "cringes of pain". I pray and throw daggers and spit acid and run around and fail to make a real impression before getting flattened.

    Three complete failures:
Grey Elf Weaponsmith, could do no damage to Ripclaw the Troll
Orc Monk, waylaid by a fuckton of undead in the swamp (just quit)
Hobbit Elementalist, ~10 fire bolts weren't enough to drop the sucky old ogre mage

You let him take a step between the 6th and 7th bolt. That
gave him just enough time to completely regen.

Hey, I didn't get it either. I didn't watch the messages carefully, but it probably was several critical hits. Still, the damn thing was unexpectedly powerful.

That being said, third place? Nice!

Dang! I would have placed around 10 or 11.

I randomly generated my fighters so I'm not sure of their star signs.

High: Legolas the High Elven Archer 35-37 defenses. Beat Li Han Kay.
Med: Bilbo the Hurthling Monk died at the hands of Li Han Kay
Low: Frodo the Hurthling Weaponsmith got cocky and tried to dive to the Dwarven Village in his 3000 turns and found some pit vipers before arriving at the arena.

Ha! I hadn't noticed that because I was randomly generating them.
