    Default learning something new

I was playing around with a downloaded archmage savefile and wanted to test some stuff. I entered the chaos plane for a ULE and brought Andor down to critical. After slaughtering white unicorns, farmers, and children, I was C-. The GB states that finishing him here should give you an UCG.

But, I switched to Sceptre to finish him off, and I got.... an OCG.

I hope this isn't common knowledge, cause I spent a while getting the sceptre. But since the regular OCG doesn't need sceptre to kill him, it is odd that I would get an OCG in this situation.

You didn't kill him with the ToTRR, hence you can't get an ultra. Had you been any other alignment, you presumably would have just died when you killed him.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

I tried with the other alignments, and you do get turned into a chaos wretch.

Maybe it is not just the sceptre- would any C- character defeating Andor without TotRR become an OCG? If that is true, then OCG can be done sans sceptre.

If OCG is considered the hardest; then any ULE could switch teams and get the hardest ending without schelping down to the SIL.

Hmm, I wonder if a ULE->OCG could be CN to get the ending. I will test tomorrow.

Captain obvious alert- being quadruple doomed makes Andor take a long while- even with max stats.

This only really helps for PCs who can easily become chaotic from L+ on the chaos plane... How many monsters did you wish for? I guess bards wishing for a cave bear and repeatedly attacking and taming the beast with their worst corroded no skill weapon can do this quite cheaply. Or a PC could find a figurine of wondrous power shop and lots of SoFS.

How many wishes did you need with unicorns, kids and rainbows?

A druid could activate an uncursed red worm figurine of wondrous power.
Would take maybe a couple hundred turns for the sucker to spawn ~15,
but then you should have critical mass and reach C easily.

Test results- I got to CN and killed Andor with a Eternium spear, I got an OCG.

It took 7 unicorns, but that seems to be variable. Once I was at L and killing one led me to N+, another time, N-, and last time I went from L to C-, just by killing one unicorn.

Anyone with the music skill at high levels could do it.

Anyone who can summon monsters by sacrificing mana could easily do it.

Why would you consider OCG to be harder than UCG? You can get crowned whenever you like, don't have to save Khelly and don't have to bother with the scintillating cave. SIL is a bit of a nuisance of course, but manageable.

There is one thing you obviously haven't tried though - go through the gate as lawful, then switch alignment and kill Andy whilst the trident is equipped. You'll get a UNE or a UCG, without half the corruption problems these endings often have. But, as has been said, it's not hugely practical to change alignment on the chaos plane. Besides, if you can manage one special ending you can manage them all.

Grey, the guidebook mentions that you can do that. But that is lame.

OCG is harder because the SIL takes a long time, especially with a melee character aka no teleport and magic map. Surely it is harder than EM, Filk, and Blue wyrm.

Hmm, I wonder if a potential OCG becomes a chaos wretch if they become N or L on the plane before killing Andor. They probably do.

SIL dive isn't too bad if you know level patterns reasonably well - just stairhop until the stairs are in the next room.

I've searched all over and can't find a download to an archmage file so can you please give me a link?
