Even though it gives bad luck what are people's thought on the Black Torc?

I actually think it is pretty good. [4,2] is good for an amulet, and +10 speed is excellent at any point. Cursing isn't that bad to deal with anyway. More annoying is autocurse, honestly, because there is occasional reason to change amulets.
And you can throw it an undead for good damage if you're in a tight spot.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.
I agree Jellyslayer. It is a nice items and the bad luck is not really that big of deal.

I always just avoided things that cursed me as a rule of thumb. But really it is not much of a problem until you get doomed.

If you are not playing a fragile character then it might not even be a bad idea to get it for the cursing. It should make the mobs a bit stronger. Which would mean more early xp and better drops. Although, how significant the impact is I am not sure. I guess I'll have to try playing with it early on and see how things work out.

Dunno if that is a myth or not. Seems I remember the original source of
that as being the GB, and it was put in many versions ago. It may have
once been true, as was the case for infos like 'fireproof blankets burn
more readily when doomed in the ToEF's'.

Soirana did a game called 'cursed sin' or some such, where he played with
every curse weapon he could find. He mentioned at the end that he thought
torc was undervalued. I still don't like it though, I value luck very highly.

I suppose if one wanted to invest the time, one could go ID hopping from ID 1 and ID 2 with a healer. Take several readings with the stethoscope of various monsters and record the xp gained after kills. Then average out the numbers and compare them. That might give some idea of the impact it has.
I don't know if I care enough to do that, though. The +10 speed is a good enough reason for me to consider using it.

I really meant better drops. mob HP's and speed helps determine xp gains,
so that is prolly true.

I see, I was more focused on the xp and if it is even enough to worry about.

Does speed from items effect your xp gain?
