    Default Grey vs Conundrum round 6

    Hmm, well done on escaping that mixed tension room, Conundrum - obviously our speed talents have paid off.

    So, back to our female ranger... I rest up to half HP and decide to explore before we starve. First thing I see is a big threat room of slow shadows. Oh dear... Cursed weapon doesn't work very well, and we only have 10 undead slaying arrows. I decide to read our scrolls in hope of uncursing - get darkness, magic mapping, uncursing! Killing the shadows becomes much easier. Polemarms up to level 5, shields to level 2, bows level 5. Exp to level 9 - choose Athletics, Food Pres, 2xHealing. Talent Greased Lightning (though Keen Shot was sorely tempting). Suffered -2 St from meleeing the slow shadows

    Continue exploring, though the level is now fully mapped. Find and equip a coral ring. I find a sling and decide to switch to it and rocks since our arrow supply is desperate.

    I encounter a necromancer and his goons and dispatch them fairly easily, getting slings up to level 1 in the process. In the loot I find two amulets (I wear the platinum one), a wooden wand, and some potions/scrolls. Now at 5850 I decide I should make a dash for the stairs...

    On I13 I find a pick axe - could be handy. I find the stairs straight away and hear a "ZAP!" Decide to descend for the hell of it... First room is dark. I wait around till turn 6000. "You sense a certain tension. You hear the sound of rushing water!"

    Good timing, I was hoping you'd post before I went to sleep!

    Leave me in a dark room will you... and you stopped 1 pt short of 90 food pres!

    6031 - about 20 arrows from a barbarian! yay!
    6042 - Slings level 3
    6062 - Found stairs, hungry.
    6105 - Slings level 4, very hungry.
    6131 - Starving, pretty sure I'm fighting a threat room of outlaws. I drink our murky potion.. "You feel reserved." -Ch?
    6160 - Yay, outlaw corpse!
    6201 - Found the river but the stairs are on this side.
    6262 - Descend, find down stairs in next room
    6416 - Starving again.
    6440 - PRAY for satiation.
    6523 - watery potion
    6569 - A jackalware provides some food (4 corpses), slings level 5, and a stone amulet
    6648 - Distant wind
    6691 - Ice vortex appears behind me while I'm fighting a berserker prince in a hallway.
    6694 - wand is acid, vortex shrugs it once, then is destroyed. now on 26 hp, gotta hit and run the prince.
    6762 - killed the prince, but more stuff has appeared between me and the stairs! master swordsman and a cave bear..
    6872 - managed to run around them, retrieve the corpses I dropped to run faster, and get to the stairs.
    6889 - eat a hyena corpse, then wait till swordsman appears and descend.
    6893 - Have fun with this level - I eat another corpse, and I get "You sense a certain tension. You hear a distant wind. You hear a distant wind."
    w5'd just past 7000, and got "You hear a distant wind" approximately 20 times.
    7004 - Save.

    Summary:
    plenty of food for now, didn't level up so still 89 food pres.
    plenty of arrows when we run out of rocks (or you want to swap back), theyre still un-IDd though.
    found another backup shield better than the wooden one
    got another amulet
    wand of acid has one charge left
    used one prayer
    burdened and satiated, might wanna ditch some stuff
    current level seems likely to have a vortex tension room, but luckily stairs are in the next room.


    (Woulda been more interesting if the tension room was between us and the stairs, but oh well.)

    I thought the dark room would make for a nice screenshot And Food Pres maxed at 89, but I figured it was worth the increase to make sure we get to 90 on the next level (which will hopefully be soon).

    Anyway, onwards! No fecking way I want to find that vortex room, so I'm heading straight for the stairs. I eat 2 of the jackal corpses to get unburdened. Mind you if it wasn't for our food woes I'd stay burdened to get St back up... Will have to see how the food situation goes this round.

    On I17 I flee from a troll to the stairs. I18 now, and I sense a certain tension... I milk a rockthrower for some ammo and drop the non-stacking ones and our two plain spears to get unburdened. A lizardman drops an adamantium long sword and I soon find out it's cursed... I also find a leather cloak [+4, +3]!

    An explosive rune rips apart two-thirds of our HP and our platinum amulet, along with a few minor things. Thankfully it doesn't open the door, which I presume is the tension room... I equip our opal amulet. I wait around a bit to heal up, and hear a slurping sound and sense a soul in agony.

    The only bits of the level to explore are behind locked doors. I kick down the one I know is no longer trapped and get faced with a bunch of hill giants. Oh dear... Level 10 - Food Pres (over 90, yay!), Archeryx2, Athletics. After battling a bit and getting beaten a bit I make a hasty retreat with two corpses. I kick down the other door in my way and head down the tunnel towards some webs till I notice I'm on to turn 8052 - whoops!

    Giants are over to the right. Haven't encountered whatever spider left the web in the corridor. Could probably clear out the giants with missiles if you feel like it, but you'll likely want to secure an escape route first. Corpses are certainly nice to have.

    I find out there is a big loop in the level and kind of wish I took the shorter path to the stairs..

    I'll take Match26.

    GElven beastfighter - not very bad, but could be better... Started the game with the very first orc destroying 1PV of our +0,+1 furs. Dropped them for good, killed the orc and went to explore the level. Almost immediately found leather armor, so our PV situation improved a bit. Killed some other guys, got 2 levels, pumped healing, athletics and took Hardy. Descended to I2.

    Found a fire beetle corpse and ate it. I somehow didn't check the message, so I don't really know whether we got -Fire or not. Sorry for that

    Killed a bunch of monsters, entered the room and got under guess what? Corruption trap, yes. I just can't resist them. They call for some hidden parts of my mind and Ctrl and 't' keys seem to press themselves.

    Long story told, the 1st corruption was Rage. Who needs some crap like DV, when you can RAGE and TRUE BERSERK!! Oh, wait, beastfighters can't TRUE BERSERK. Whoops.
    2nd one was Bulging Cranium. Hell yeah, baby, who needs other crap like PV, when you can THINK!! Oh, wait, beastfighters don't usually think.

    I went to the stairs (it was about turn 700). Then I stripped, dropped all stuff, except food and a sling with 1 rock in missile slot and another one in invertory. They don't stack. I then w5, ate some food till Bloated, destroying our Raven speed bonus. On turn 999 I descend.

    The RNG decided that our situation is not hilarious yet and the room we descended to is dark. Indeed, this was a worthy addition to my turn.

    How do you think, guys, is that normal?
    I threw a sling into a brown worm, critically wounded it. Out of amunition (only food left). Got to melee fight. Missed it. Then it hit me 6 times and somewhere between hits spawned another worm! Got down from 32/48 to 0/48 (ok, PV was -4, but still!).
