    - corruption (though it's not really a death, instead you are transformed into a little purple j).
    - wearing insufficient equipment when entering the chaos gate (AoLS disappears when you enter it).
    - sacrificing yourself (god destroys your amulet if you try to cheat him and then you are sacrificed. Under certain circumstances (lawful? crowned?) your god forgives you and will let you continue but without your amulet).
    - getting sacrificed by a monster (you die with the amulet around your neck).
How do you sac yourself? And does it bring you back from kicking forge death?

Try to sacrifice when you have no items in your backpack. The game says you have nothing to sacrifice and asks if you would like to sacrifice yourself instead.

Kicking forge doesn't differ from normal deaths where your hp goes to or below 0.

What about falling in the mountains or getting eaten by grue?

Not that it really matters, of course, since you shouldn't be doing either, but this is the minor things thread after all.

You survive from both. Also it saves you from starvation, stat draining below 1 and petrification for example.

Great idea because you need to be doomed for a grue to eat you. AMULETS OF LIFE SAVING DOOM YOU!

    10 characters needed...
You have moved into a dark place. It's pitch black here. Oh, no! You have
walked into the slavering fangs of a lurking grue! You die... You
suddenly feel your body again. You have been resurrected! Your amulet crumples
    to dust!

I guess the AoLS also saves your life in the piranha lake. Would it be possible to get to the skeletal king by equipping several AoLS, one after another? Or do the piranhas damage you right after putting one on even if you don't move?

You can wade through the piranha lake like that, but you need enough hp to survive 2 turns of movement (since you need to equip an AoLS every other turn).

Useful for those all too-common games where you find 8 AoLS by can't find a wand of cold anywhere!

Funniest story I ever heard on that one was someone
got there, realized they had no wand, trained rock
throwing high enough to crash the door from afar
with a huge rock, killed the boss, then realized that
they still had to cross the lake to get the ring : )
