    Default The Weakest Link: Trial of the Dark Orc Tribe

    "Mewling infants! Your weakness disgusts me!"

    The endless torment of the wailing souls in this wicked netherworld seems to undergo a brief pause. It already seems like an eternity that your lives were ripped from your souls back in the arenas you fought in, but you recognize the Arena Grandmaster's right hand instantly. Does he seek to multiply your agony even further with whatever dreadful ploy he has cooked up?

    Silfir raises his whip, and it seems as if the wailing souls around you themselves have now bundled together to form solid ground. Though you are translucent, you suddenly feel like having actual bodies again, even if only temporarily so - and your joy is immediately ended by the fact that it is unimaginable for this monster to grant you relief from your pains for any other goal than to make its return even more devastating.

    "You have provided not nearly enough amusement to the Lord! Fight once more! But this time, you shall have ample opportunity to prove your worth or fail in an instant. Only one of you will be granted temporary relief from the pain of the netherworld. He who completes the Trial of the Dark Orc Tribe shall be revived to fight in the Arena of Acid once more!"


    The Rules of the Trial, in a nutshell:

    - Only dead players or those in the Abyss, regardless of the league they played in, may participate.
    - Only the players that have not yet faced this particular situation during the League of Acid may participate. This excludes evariste as the one who has caused this Trial, and coppro, Al-Khwarizmi and tapi should they die later on in the League of Acid.
    - Also excluded are players that have already qualified for the Semifinals.
    - The first one to complete the Trial successfully will be revived and will take the place of evariste in the playing order of the League of Acid. He will then compete for qualification to the Semifinals as a normal league member would!
    - The Trial is only open for as long as the winners of the League of Acid - the two players that will qualify for the Semifinals - are not yet decided. Once they are, the Trial closes, and remains a challenge for the sake of Honour.
    - You may undergo the Trial once, and only once!



    The Trial of the Dark Orc Tribe

    evariste of the League of Acid has encountered a threat room of dark orcs on ID:11. The orcs now block the way to the downstairs, and will likely have to be taken out. As you will be quick to notice, there is also a tension room of as of yet unknown content which might have to be dealt with as well. Oh, and you're out of food and sorely lack sources of ammunition, and each of the - at least more than 21 remaining - dark orcs has very much the potential to deplete your precious few HP to nothing. No, you do not have Healing - did you have to ask?

    Dark orcs are likely to hang about anywhere on the level, excluding the room
    you're in... Keep in mind that most of the walls have been thoroughly checked
    for secret doors. If it were that easy players wouldn't have died so much!

    Please minimise "advice" in this thread too, at least whilst there is still a chance of getting into the Acid league. No flgs or hidden details in your death report either.

    (PS. Was in the middle of making a "Trial of D'orcs" thread myself :P )

    Just for clarification, is this challenge only available for players who are currently dead, or can players who die in other leagues at a later time (but before the acid league is resolved) also give this a try?
    Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

    Dark Orc Trip Report

    10000- begin
    10156- One dark orc down
    10374- Another dead dark orc
    10463- Another dead dark orc
    10587- This guy got one-shot, and I caught the boomerang afterwards.
    10821- Dead. Too many came for me and too many thrown weapons missed their targets, including the 'rang, which didn't return that time.
    Top Score in ADOM: 10.1M- Normal victory (Male Dwarven Paladin)

    I think this challenge is much more possible than
    last year's 'trial of rust', but still REALLY hard.
    "Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

    So far rolled 15 casters with RoDS and shamelessly killed them within 200 turns. For eternium glory!
    (after 15 I stopped counting...)

    Lots of boomeranging and hack-and-back, but Hungry! status caused me to pursue faster tactics which, of course, failed. No food was gathered from the orcs in the making of this attempt. I lost my boomerang once and had to lead three (another mistake) orcs around the level. I tried to lock them in, but unforunately, Dark orcs can also shatter doors. It seems that even if one were to be able to run the gantlet of orcs without killing them all, you would still end up sandwiched between a dark orc and the tension room. Furthermore, if the tension room door is an exploding rune...
