Ok, I'm in. Didn't play ADOM for a while, so I probably won't do as good as last year. I'd prefer playing with a new score table, though. I think it's more fair then using the old scores. However, if the old scores are being used, I agree with Jellyslayer about removing my bonus points. Those were pretty damn much luck... Altar on SIL?... It worth me 100 or more points... :P

For example I know nothing about savegame compatibility between different operating systems and different versions such as using adom-sage.
For instance I can only continue my savefiles if the screen resolution remains the same as it was before (using adom v1.1.1 with adom-sage on Debian OS).
Will I be able to load and continue an .svg file coming from a Windows OS?
Here's a savegame file from a windows machine using default settings. See if you can load it.

Thank you, it works well on a 80x25 terminal and gives error messages on any other sizes. I think I should use this resolution in the challenge.

That IS the standard for ADOM, I believe. It would be interesting to meet someone who regularly played and beat the game using a higher resolution such as 80x50. Just how different would it be? Apparently most of the game is more tedious and time-consuming since there's the same amount of monsters, but way more space to explore, but the 80x50 casino induces ADOMgasms. I might have to try this at some point.

I've played precisely one such higher resolution game. Not sure if I got to the casino in that, I think the character died due to a boredom-induced careless mistake.
ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

Before I found this forum and found out that 80x25 was the "standard", I always played 80x50 on the grounds that "bigger is better".

It was a quite different game. There was less risk of getting surrounded by monsters, and less dangers caused by monsters in general, but it was quite easy to die from starvation in the early game due to having to walk more on the same amount of corpses and rations. Since I play 80x25 I almost never starve in the early game, it must be years since the last time I did that...

You will have to find a new whipping boy this year!
I am not signing up as I am just too lazy to fiddle
with savegame zipping/upping and report writing/posting.
Oh, and I suck more at adom this year than last -_-
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

Ok, I need some clarification about river rule. I've found a river, but after about 30 turns of exploring (no river message, though), on ID2. Can I regenerate the level now, or do we have to play who-sinks-more-like-an-anvil for the next round?

You can <> to reset the level if you would like, or you can wait out your turn on I:2. If you do so, however, you must reach I:3 before the end of your turn.

If you don't use the river rule, I can <> to reset the level on my turn, and still must reach I:3.
