    Default Fire resist gear burned

    Code:
The door is locked. You don't have any appropriate key to unlock the door.
Previously hidden runes on the door suddenly explode! You partially
evade the explosion. Your uncursed red spear (+1, 1d8+1) is torn apart!
Arn't items that grant fire resist supposed to be immune to fire damage? Or am I remembering that wrong? Isn't that why wooden rings will never burn up, despite being made of wood? My fireproof blanket prevented any scrolls or books from damage.

The exploding runes aren't actually fire damage, I think. It's a magical kind of explosion, and the spear probably gets ripped apart by the shockwave. If it was fire damage, don't you think it should have melted?

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

I suppose that hidden rune doors (as opposed to fireball doors) create a shock wave dealing pure physical damage.

    EDIT: Ninja'd!

BTW, ninjas should be a profession in ADOM II.

The death message describes it as a "magical explosion".

I always interpreted that to mean that only the cause was magical (magical runes), causing "a rapid increase in volume and release of energy in an extreme manner".

Oh I see, it wasn't the fire from the explosion, it was the explosion itself. Oh well.
