    Just to be clear... if you get a good R/C combo, it's perfectly okay to play it out. You don't have to reroll until you get merchant or thief or something. If you get a drakeling wizard, go for it!

    AS SOON AS I HIT XL 13, LET ALL WALLS BEWARE... if I live that long.

    EDIT2: wow, xl 3 and already sp = 111
    EDIT3: xl 9, sp = 116
    Been a while since I have played a cursed character, but it seems the curse is more than just a little
    bad luck, at least so far. Ambushed several times crossing the wilderness, and once was a large pack
    of jackles with 2 breeders. A vault on D:2, bees on D:3, and a huge room of undead on D:5 (which
    I am having to fight with a cursed stone spear, but that is my fault). I cannot enter D:4 at all, and it
    is the arena level. So what did the rng throw me to make the arena inaccessible? A blink god. It was
    too precious to kill, and I only have 2 PV (which may as well not even be there for how much good
    it is doing me), so it starts summonzing all over the place and I had to flee for my life. Oh well, no
    cooked lizards for a while.

    I am only managing to stay alive my using every tactic I know. I only survived the ghul in the
    undead room because monk find weakness + rock throwing + littering every tile with gold. If I can
    just make it to dwarftown...

    EDIT4: Oh, i forgot to mention that gray oozes have taken over one level already (I forget which)
    and are currently in the process of taking over D:5 as well. I might keep them from it...

    EDIT5: grrrr, spider factory on D:6 is taking forever. I am almost dying all over the place. I noticed
    that I can close a door over a spiderweb though, and the display still shows the web.

    EDIT6: goodness, it took me this long to make it to D:9. I have hit xl 13 now though, so being
    making coward flee paths is now easier at least. I can finally kill bees! 72 bee warriors to beee
    exact, and I had to recover a total of 9 million HP's to do it. Big room to deadly to explore still,
    but I finally did install tp control and fight a few times in the arena. I found and converted a
    black altar, and found another L one on D:9. I will livesac my way uncursed before going further.

    EDIT: Found load of weapons and not a single piece of armor whatsoever. Cornered in D:7 between a shadow and a gargoyle and slaughtered. Duh.

    I know the feeling, kinda. My trollish monk found two scrolls of familiar summoning in a scroll shop and used them in DH2. First familiar: an Earth elemental. Second: a friggin' balor. Very convenient too, since they never get left behind even if I teleport.

    Now my familiars and I are happily cutting through the entire animated forest on our way back to Dwarftown, picking up truckloads of loot. Way too easy. Almost doesn't feel like ADOM.

    But maybe I should hold my breath until the ToEF and lower CoC.

    Eager to see how this plays out. I have a feeling I will be running away a lot.

    EDIT 1: As suspected, I ended up running from many, many wilderness encounters. Some I fled after getting surrounded; others I didn't even try to fight(group of ghuls at level 2? No thanks). Got to the CoC, lost my dire wolf to a fire beetle. Found a neutral altar on level 2. Converted from C to N, identified stuff. On the arena I bought some Cooked Lizards, then I went back up to the altar and lured sacrifices over to it until I got up to Inner Spirits... hopefully Lucky will help offset the Curse somewhat.

    EDIT 2: Hmm... I found a pool on D:8. After making a somewhat foolish decision to drink from it, I got the following message:

    "You suddenly age! You feel grown-up. You feel middle-aged. You feel old. You feel very old. The pool dries up."

    24 years of unnatural aging from a pool... not good as an Orc. Well... I have Alchemy, right? So if I survive long enough to mix a potion of youth...

    "The quasit hits you. You feel weak. The quasit critically hits you. You feel weak."

    Wait, what? Crap, I'm down to 8 strength and Overburdened. Can't move.

    "The quasit hits you. You feel weak. The quasit hits you. You feel weak. You die..."

    So ends the tale of Urag, the cursed bard who turned into a quasit. That was fast... I think I'll try another character.

    I rolled a gnome archer with +5 PV leather armor.

    I'll report back once something interesting happens.

    EDIT: Well, you could tell me why I can't see my alignment anymore. Did I resize the screen?
