    I'd starve around D:9 if I were wearing that all the time, and hell knows if wall beasts can't see invisible.
    Same for coward - if it was strong enough to bring me down from 27 to -11, it was probably accurate enough to get past my not-so-high DV.

    They're pretty rare, unless you spend a lot of time in the minotaur maze. They're pretty out of depth for D:10, but it looks like ScrollOfCureBlindness was approaching a mixed vault or tension room, which can contain very out-of-depth monsters.

    "Same for coward"?

    A) Being on Coward all the time as long as you're not attacking, contrary to wearing invisibility items, has no drawbacks and only advantages. When your character is running around perma-cursed and underleveled, you need all of the advantages.
    B) Even one DV can make all the difference, and Coward gets you much more than one DV. Yeah, it could have still killed you, but there is a chance that it would have not. You missed out on that chance by not being on Coward, which you had no reason not to be.

    Even the unluckiest-seeming death will often have been caused by some degree of carelessness. Sometimes it's extremely silly and not worth losing your mind over in future playthroughs, but most of the time you can learn something. And in this case, it's to at least be on Coward when exploring a level with a vault of unknown type using a low HP character.

    (I'm not on Coward all the time either. But when stuff gets dangerous, I try to be. Sensing when you're in danger is a skill of its own that I haven't mastered either, but I'm learning. All the time.)

    I got myself stuck in the middle of the trees with no healing and all the way down to 1 HP. I only got to the upper wall with a lucky teleport (no control). I stared at the screen for two minutes before I spotted my wand of digging and remembered what to do. One hostile tree managed to find me before I could close myself off, but I got lucky avoiding hits (to be fair, I have like 90 DV on coward with my two completely ridiculous shields) before I dug enough of the hallway to get away and plant a door in the thing's face. Afterwards, I dug the rest of the hallway close to the stairs, and waited and ate cooked lizards until I was full HP again.

    By all rights I should have died twice over already. I keep getting lucky with items, too; I found a second fletchery set, and I'm level 18 now.

    I also found an amulet of rapid healing once, but the RNG saw fit to take it away right quick. God forbid I get too comfortable.

    Writing as I go along.
    Okay, on to the game. Took long stride, quick, hardy and tough skin.
    Wilderness:Ran away from all, had to kill some frogs before being sufficiently wounded to run faster. Ran away from my loyal dog, bravely leaving him to fight off a clan of Barbarians.
    1 CoC: After a levelup I pumped gardening. Had only 3 seeds so minimal chance of stable herbs. Decided to plant, only one took root. Ate my minty herb. Next levelup I got both Toughness and Willpower increase. Levelled to 4 without hanging around. Nice skills, never played this class before, shows good promise. But not for this kind of game. Found a boomerang.
    2 CoC: Find Studded leather, giving me +3 PV. Later punched through for -1, but find heavy boots. Give boomerang a workout on a tension room of orcs. Take some time and cook all corpses (12 or so), so food no worry anymore. Near death to dark sage, alertness probably saved me. Hope I got it trained a bit. 2 down exits. Second path has a vault! Go down at level 7.
    3 CoCVault): Goblin vault. Metal cap, some tomes, need to pump literacy to read 'em. Have found quite a few weapons by now, but since no shield has appeared sticking with my heavy-hitting twohanded polearm, thanks. Cook quite a few more corpses, taking me to strained. Gonna need more STR in this quest, I guess. Have to retreat upstairs from time to time. Later find a cave fisher and install poison resistance and amazingly, a second boomerang. Get +Str. Hit level 9.
    4 CoC: Nothing much.
    3 CoC: Gain another +Str. Kill a pack of blink dogs, get + control but ruin a spare corpse cooking. Then nearly die to dire wolves summoned by a werewolf. At 3 hp I decide to pray. Oh yeah, doomed. Inexplicably, the dire wolf is scared by my prayer and decides to panic at that very moment. I run away, into a hill orc, so I'm squeezed a bit. Decide to chance the wolf, and take it down with first shot. Also nearly killed by a duo of yellow oozes. Not gonna last much longer.
    5 CoC: Arena. Fight a bit for gold, also get ratling pamphlet to read (for lit training. Yeah reading 'No more animal slaughter -- stop animal handlers' 150 times must surely improve my sense of literacy. Reading a new meaning into those words every time.
    6 CoC: Huge room. Here goes. Mission is locate stairs, as well as stabilizing herb patterns as I go. Not a good start, have to weed out some soon-to-die alrunia. Also see a ochre jelly, retreat upstairs. Notice I misplaced my boomerangs somewhere. Find one. Finally locate stairs, but only a single farmworthy herb patch. stomo and below. Tapdance up and down stairs with pit vipers. Level 11.
    7 CoC: Minding my own affairs, a chaos brother decides to hit for 20 hp a shot. Withdraw down a blind alley with 4 HP. Awaiting the end...outmaneuver him in the dead-end room, HPs candling their way up to 25 as I run down the corridor again. Ops, caveman blocks. Exchange shots, I miss he throws a club taking half my life. Ready my scourge, miss again and lose half HPs again, and stunned. Stagger back one step, and now standing between him and chaos brother with 2 HPs. Decide to eat a herb. Last two herbs are unID and burb root. Great, unID must be pepper petal. Eat it. It's stomachemptia. Survive their hits, no doubt due to their being busy laughing. Drink a random potion, feel good about toughness level. Another round of misses and satiated again. Another potion, dexterity level is making me feel good. Yeah this is a situation to feel good about. Finally I meditate a bit about listening skill, because that would surely help me out. Caveman finally takes mercy and takes me out.Got about 8000 points, and didn't make it into highscore list.
