    Yep, all you need to do is step inside once between levels 13-16, and then it'll be open for you.
    edit: or I might be wrong, and it stays open only once you defeat Rehetep. I don't know. I always win at level 15, tops.

    No, I think you have to defeat the boss for it to remain open.

    Nope. You have to kill the mummy lord for it to stay open passed level 16. Likewise, to keep the maze open after level 30 (31? I can never remember), you have to kill the minotaur emperor.

    Oh. Well, lesson learned, for me. I've never stepped inside the pyramid and not killed Rehetep, so I really wouldn't know. Don't know why I said anything, in fact.

    It's one of the ways you can break your game, actually. If you leave one of the Chaos Orbs in the Pyramid and leave, once you hit level 17 the orb is lost forever and the game cannot be finished.

    Ah, that's pretty crazy. I don't think I've ever gotten the Water Orb at a lower level than 17 though, so it must be something you do either with a troll character or with the intention to do so in the first place.

    Yeah, this isn't the kind of thing that is terribly likely to come up in regular play. Slightly more likely with the maze, I suppose, since at least you'll probably have 1-2 orbs when you attempt it.

    Never been, wouldn't know, but if the level range is twenties to thirty, I imagine someone would have both of the pre-Eternal Guardian orbs by the time they tried for it.

    that is one of the bugs we discovered in pure theory. it never really happened to anyone in
    an actual game, but we just theorized about it, tested it and found it is (comically) true.
