The Moon Sickle is a strong weapon, but it will curse itself when you equip it, and every time you hit something you get slightly corrupted. Not really recommended unless you're desperate. Also, you can't use holy water to uncurse it because if you dip it in a potion it turns the potion into a potion of raw chaos. You can probably sell it for a decent price.

I'm guessing the level below DT has a mixed vault. It's a big open area (or maybe a series of connected rooms) packed with random monsters. You really shouldn't be seeing those monsters below DT, IMHO.

    Okay, for items...
Paralyse wand will shoot a paralysis ray from it that can paralyse any monster in its path. It doesn't always stick (although it is fairly effective). Never works on undead or constructs though, so don't waste it on the mummy or golems. Note that in ADOM, even very strong monsters will not necessarily be resistant to paralysis, confusion, etc. These sorts of items are very powerful tools. Use it any time you find yourself in big trouble.
Acid wand shoots and acid bolt.
Trap detect will detect all traps that you can see. Not that useful unless your sight range is really big.
    Light removes darkness.
Cold shoots a cold ray. If you use it next to a water square, it will freeze the water solid and you can walk across the ice bridge as long as you have <2000s in your inventory.
Door creation makes a door. Might be open, closed, or trapped.
Webbing shoots a ray of spider webs.
Far slaying will make a REALLY long bolt of magic missile that will bounce around all over the level. You can choose how many PP to put into it, which affects the strength/duration of the ray. Be careful with how you use it so that you don't end up frying yourself.
Wonder makes you cast a random spell. You will also get 5-10 castings of that spell and can cast it again.
Trap creation makes a trap on one adjacent square to you. It will remain hidden till you step on it though.
Fireball will release a fireball around your position. Range depends on willpower.

Potions are mostly self explanatory. Note that potions, such as blindness, can be thrown at monsters to disorient them. Dipping an item in rust removal will remove rust. Dipping in oil or blessed rust removal will make it rustproof. Exchange will change some random stats permanently. Use with caution. If blessed, you can dip items in it to change them into another item of the same type (eg. ring of the fish might turn into ring of damage). If thrown, it will exchange a monster for a random monster (I think DL limited), which can be handy for, say vortices.

Scrolls are mostly self-explanatory. Blessed magic map will reveal an entire dungeon level. Defense, protect, melee damage, melee accuracy, etc. will improve your worn equipment. Danger increases the DL of the level slightly. Repair will fix broken items. Warning and information are only useful in the SMC and can be discarded.

    For herbs...
Curaria will treat sickness. Might take more than one.
Spenseweed can be 'U'sed to heal a small amount of HP. Blessed heal about 30-40
Alraunia treat poison. Might take more than one.
Stomafilla is good to eat. Will satiated if uncursed, bloat if blessed.
    Stomacemptia will make you starving.
Pepper petal will heal small amount of HP when eaten.
Burb root will damage you when eaten. Throw away.
Morgia root should be eaten in threes or fours. This will eventually cause your toughness stat to increase by one. Takes awhile. Only eat more once it goes up. This works regardless of herb status.
Moss of mareilon will improve your dexterity if blessed or uncursed when 'u'sed. Will hurt dexterity if cursed. Use in twos or threes. Takes awhile
Devil rose will make you sick
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

For the record, wands of wonder are best if you empty them in a safe space to get the spells. Even if you can only cast each spell once after that, that might be all you need.

Keep in mind that if you wear full equipment, scrolls of defense and protection will improve your body armor. To improve other pieces, like your girdle, you have to unequip everything that comes before it; If there's no body armor, the scroll improves headgear, and since I really don't remember the order after that, I'd just strip naked except the girdle. It's sure to work then. Find a safe, and private, place to do so.

ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

I liked to bookcast some utility spells like Invisibility or Remove Curse until I can get enough castings from reading them to death. That way you never run out, and if the book is destroyed, you should have enough castings to use it from memory for some time.

Fourth! New weapon! Uncursed red eternium dagger (+0, 2d4+7)
The "red" prefix means wielding it will grant resistance to fire. Weapons and armor in ADOM can have special suffixes or prefixes which affect their qualities. Most are positive, some aren't, a few (e.g. "trapped" armor) are very nasty.

Sixth! Got my Wand of Fireballs! Also, I seem to be Resistant to fire! And I have a Ring of Fire! (it's not on)
Rings of fire protect your equipment (worn and archived) from cold. They're somewhat useless since cold damage tends not to destroy many items to begin with. Rings of ice will protect you from fire (it combats one element with its opposite). Both kinds are only really useful (~99% chance of ignoring damage) if they're blessed and you have positive luck.

My items haven't been getting torched though, in the past few explosions, or by the fire breaths I keep getting hit by. Not sure why.
    May I quote your log?
    Code:
       uncursed fireproof blanket [10s]
       blessed fireproof blanket [10s]
Blankets protect your inventory from damage. Fireproof ones are prone to being burnt by fire eventually, but you can delay that by blessing them and once again, having good luck. This probably won't be a problem until you have to enter a certain red tower, though.

Thanks for all the tips everyone!

    Okay!

Rehetep is dead and I'm wearing his clothes!

    But not all is well!

A chaos spider REFUSED TO DIE and got me good till I remembered I had spells.

It was a very tough fight, but that wand of fireballs got me through it. Probably would have died otherwise.

BUT: My strength has been lowered. My toughness has been lowered.

And most of all, now I have Hooves instead of feet! I've been corrupted by that spider! So yeah, my dex has dropped by like 6 points, because of my corruption!

So....any way to get strength back other than the slow way? (Burdened/Strained walking?) Likewise for toughness but it's slightly less important. I ate 4 of those morgia roots or whatever that improve toughness. It should come back in time, and I'm full of piss and vinegar, so anything in the big room that tries to stop me is gonna get wrecked!

Dex! Only useful for ranged combat I hope? I sucked with bows before this, it's gonna be awful now!

Also, I can wear METAL BOOTS over hooves? Honestly that's straining my willing suspension of disbelief!

My new quest is to kill some Ogres. Gonna hold off till I can hopefully get some stats back. Why rush, amirite?

And, with my roughly 9000 gold, and a heap of Strange Items that need selling, should I Offer it? BTW, Turn undead worked great on Rehetep, but not so good on the regular mummies. What gives?

    Thanks everybody!

EDIT: Silfir I watched your video of the Pyramid before I went back there! It was helpful! How did you get your willpower so high? My fireball was like 2 squares wide tops. Enough to clear the things hitting me, but not much else.

You should probably try to kill some ogres now, they may drop corpses and when eaten - they have a chance of increasing your strength, which you said yourself is low.
Toughness is IMO very important as it determines your HP and general survival rate (I think high toughness stat factors in checks of poison and/or sickness duration).
As for the gold, it's good to sacrifice some of it to keep your deity at least very close, thus guarantee a couple of prayers will be heard in dire situations.
"Hell is empty and all the devils are here."

Chaos spiders are not stat drainers (at least, I don't think they are)... Press \ and check your corruption status. Maybe you have more than one? Or maybe you are sick or something? Or were you aged by a ghost maybe (press B to check your age)?

Hooves are not that bad. Harvest a bunch of moss of marelion and uncurse them with a scroll. Use those to restore your Dx. Low Dx will affect your missile accuracy and damage, and possibly your speed and DV (a tiny bit). Even if you don't train up your Dx, the effect should be pretty minor. Yes, you can still wear boots.

One easy way to regain your St is to go kill those ogres. Ogre corpses can increase your strength when eaten. Otherwise, yeah, just wander around burdened/strained for a long time.

Do you have an idea of how high your piety level is? Like, when you sacrifice, what message does it give? Depending on where it's at will make some difference about whether you want to sac or not. Piety slowly goes down over time, by a percentage, IIRC, so unless there's a specific piety target you want to hit, it may be worth keeping your piety in gold form. There's also a guy called Garth in Dwarftown who you can pay to train your stats (it's like the morgia... takes awhile). About 1500 gold should increase any stat below 15 by one point. It gets much more expensive as you get above that. If you aren't happy with your stats, this is a good option too.

Silfir probably super-charged his willpower with morgia root. In addition to increasing toughness, it also increases willpower. With patient application of morgia, you can boost both stats up to about 25. There are other methods you can use to creep up even higher, and some equipment will also give further boosts (eg. there's a guaranteed sword that has a +5 Wi modifier on it).
