So far rolled 15 casters with RoDS and shamelessly killed them within 200 turns. For eternium glory!
(after 15 I stopped counting...)
This challenge is just a matter of time a man is willing to waste. Stupid.
If the rules were changed to only allow going upstairs to avoid rivers, it's just fine. But yeah, otherwise you just go as deep as you need for danger level and just repeat floors over and over
Normal - GE Ranger, Human Monk, GE Wizard, Hurthling Beastfighter, Hurthling Farmer
Ultra - ULE GE Wizard
If they were, this would've been just Iron Man with other name.
I'm really starting to like the lack of cumbersome rules in this challenge. With drakeling monks it's a lot of fun. They start with many nice things to have like literacy, healing, food preservation and high str and to (if you have a good roll). And they don't need to find a good melee weapon, bare hands works fine.
You steal a scroll labelled HITME. The orc hits you.
Of course no, as equalizing this challenge and ADOM in general is equalizing chess and checkers.
The purpose of the challenge is to get a few new players enticed into playing the game in an easy fashion, and to raise the profile of the game. It's meant to be light-hearted and fun, not something to dissect and pore over and criticise for not being rigorous with an exact listing of meticulously balanced rules. If you don't like it then don't play, or start up your own challenge, or maybe just chill out.
