    Default Get rid of teleportitis?

Hey guys, have a wizard looking at stuff in the gift shop. Pretty decent level, hate to lose her. Anyhow, I drank from all the pools in darkforge and havent seen another since (including the unremarkable dungeon). Havent gone below the casino level.

Anyhow, she has controlled teleportitis. I can deal with any other negative effects of pools, but I cant find one to try and get rid of this thing. Can I wish it away? Could eating a pixie corpse toggle it off? Is there an intrinsic stealing monster? Please help me out.

    Thanks,
    Matt

You can only lose teleportitis by drinking from another pool. Situations like this are why I avoid them in the first place...

You're stuck like that, I'm afraid. You might have to go to the Water Temple to read certain books.

Ok. So, if I pick up an item in the gift shop, and it teleports me to the entrance, have I stolen the item, or will I have a chance to pay for it?

You've stolen it. But I thought you said you had Teleport Control?

When teleporting inside the casino shop, you're always thrown next to the door, even if you have +TCtr. You're still placed inside the shop though, so to my knowledge you can't accidentally shoplift like this.

Thank god. Just tried it and I'm happy to report that you can indeed safely shop at the gift store while having teleportitis. I'm more than willing to put up with being randomly placed there. It saves waaaay more time over the long run than I am going to loose at this one location.

    Thanks a ton!

This gives me an idea for an item that should be added to the game somewhere along the line.

Ring of teleport prevention (or variation thereof - both item type and name could be variations, like amulet of teleport resistance, or shoes of the anchor, or whatever) - prevents all teleportation while worn. I'm undecided on whether it should be autocursing, or if just having a problem with cursed ones is enough.

The idea is that wearing it is a solution to Teleportitis (and teleportation traps), but is also a problem if you're wearing one and need to teleport away from a danger using a wand or the spell. As far as I can see, the benefits and dangers are sufficiently balanced as to make the item suitable for implementation without need for further balancing. But it would make for an alternative solution to teleportitis that suppresses the problem rather than either solving it or giving the player control over it.

I like that idea a lot, Aielyn. Eventually, you could end up switching it around with a ring of teleport control, thus giving relatively controlled teleport for classes that can't cast Teleportation.

Teleporting is too easy to control in this game as it is - another item to manage it seems like overkill. I wouldn't make it a ring, in any case. If it's autocursing, it should be for a slot that doesn't have an autocursing random item yet, like helmets or bracers.
