Default Which spellbooks do you keep on hand?

I generally keep utility Spellbooks (like Magic Map and Teleportation) on hand, and just read through the rest to get as much spell knowledge as possible.

    What does everyone else do?
    Current Character: Dwarven Paladin

    Three highest scoring characters:
Yagew, Grey Elf Wizard: Closed the Chaos Gate
Eragor, Orc Paladin: Killed by having a worn Girdle of Greed cursed
Keljan, Dwarven Weaponsmith, Killed by the Master Cat

Farsight, Invisibility, Magic Map, Remove Curse, Strength Of Atlas, Teleportation. I read these just once to get >100 castings, then bookcast them through the entire early game. Then, after a certain point where I can get the most out of book reading (usually after the casino, where with help from the CoS, Learning is close to 50), I finish reading them.

Books of ball spells are read just once to get some (potentially life-saving) castings, cast normally if necessary, then same as above.

Useless Useful Spells (Greater Identify, Earthquake, Create Item, Mystic Shovel, Death Ray, Petrification) are always kept for Mana training.

All others are read to death upon being found.

I just read them all unless it's early game, the spell is important and I don't even have maxed Literacy or 18+ Learning yet.
ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

That... seems like a lot of spellbooks to keep on hand!

I only keep Teleportation and Strength of Atlas because those are the only two spells I would die without. Literally! There are enough offensive spells in the game that you can just read them out. Everything else is niche, and 1 or 2 books should power you through a game, granted you aren't trying anything crazy.

Early game: keep everything to read later.
Mid-game: Identify most of spellbooks. Read everything to gain some knowledge of everything. After that ignore most of the spells.
Mid-to late and late game: gain knowledge(preferably over 2-3 thousands) of Acid Ball and read nothing, as nothing survives mad acid-balling. If it does, kill it with fire, err MM.

Being a new ADOM player, I havent run into a situation where a caster of mine needs to hold onto one. Either they get the spells they need or they die. I also find that acid traps have a 90% chance of destroying that spellbook of teleport I was saving. Anyhow, I just read the important ones in a bookshelf room in the ID, or stash them for reading once I have really high learning.

Dagnab wizards and their booklearnin'! Back in my day we had to bookcast everything! Thats cuz they was all made out of wood! Din't have none of them fancy light spells either, so to see it we had to read 'em while castin fire bolt! Hell, you'd be lucky if it lasted through three castings. We were grateful to have em too, unlike y'all gul darn whuppersnappers!

I typically just keep one high cost book to book cast to train mana. On a wizard that usually means something like Create Item or I just keep a Farsight book and when I'm full on PP I just bookcast to empty to keep it up the entire game.

I never bookcast. I normally read books once or twice early on, then stash them somewhere safe until I need more castings. Once I get enough learning, levels, concentration, or literacy as needed, I just read out all the books that I want.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

Early game, I hang on to one book to bookcast to train mana, but mostly just while walking in the wilderness. In the dungeons it's too easy to run into something nasty when you're out of PP. Unlike most of you, I usually read out Teleportation books. I figure I get enough castings out of a book that I hate to risk having the book destroyed. If I'm down to around 100 castings remaining, I just start to be a lot more careful about how often I teleport.

I'm a big fan of bookcasting to train mana. Midgame, I'm bookcasting SoA, Farsight, and Bless like crazy, because the spell durations stack with multiple castings.
