    Default Its time to win!

    I have played ADOM for years and have yet to actually win a game.. I can get past ToEF, water temple, I can get the ring of high kings, water dragon quest, pyramid and other such low/mid game areas...

    I usually die around lvl 25 for various stupid reasons but now I think it is time to actually win the game...

    I was wondering if I might bother for some tips on post middle game success..
    my current char is lvl 11 Gnome/Priest just got crowned with shirt of saints and has spear of penetration..

    Don't die a stupid death. Get your spear/shield trained. Have Wi as high as possible when casting. Use Ball spells if you feel threatened in coward mode. Don't be afraid to run.

    I think you know all these anyway, best of luck.

    Have death ray resistance and disablers for the Mana Temple.

    If Kelly is already dead (or saved) and you find a wish, spellbooks of Rain of Sorrow would make a good one. Go to a safe place and wear the crown of science before reading.

    A VLG of your character would be nice.

    OK lvl 17 now... just finished putting bloodAxe to rest and ridding Dwarf town of a green deamon(had to melee him and took some stat drains )... was thinking about getting some teleport and raiding dark forge next.

    Rings of damage go in the right ring finger Also, I would leave the spear of penetration in the pack to deal with heavily armored monsters. It would be a shame if it got destroyed while you used it for mooks. Bless and rustproof it when you have the chance.

    Perhaps Darkforge will give you a good weapon for everyday use, and if not, Big Punch is excellent (just try to find a better shield to make up for lost polearm DV).

    OK raided dark forge and found a dagger of death.. I put the spear in my pack and now am off to do the keethrax quest..now lvl 18

    That spear is good to use in most circumstances. Equip it before melee, but not against rust monsters or water breathers, corrosive jellies, etc.

    Personnaly I would fight with any spear if I knew i had that in my backpack, just to keep spear training going.

    Remember your goal is the DV bonus from spears.

    Forget the DV bonus from spears - it pales in comparison to shield DV, and it's better to kill an enemy quickly with a high damage weapon if you want to avoid attacks.

    But having said that a weapon of penetration is mighty useful against many enemies. Be sure to use any scrolls of increase melee damage you find on it.

    Don't forget to exchange the gladius.
    Why don't you use herbs? 16(+4) To is a pretty low. Herb boosted chars seem fail not so often from stupid mistakes.
    As for me, I managed to stop all the YASD only by reaching limits in herb-training. This not only gives you a better HP but also enough time to obtain better equipment.
    Find a better shield. Doesn't matter how heavy it is.
    Remove this pathetic +1DV ring. Ring of fire resistance is much better preventing you from dying on random fireball trap.
    This amulet of balance literally gives you nothing since you are N=. Alignment changes around N (from NC to NL) aren't make your god hate you, while all the changes can be easily fixed with kind of dirty tricks. Especially for a gnome with Ventriloquism and Pickpocketing =)
    Since you do not managed the Pyramid, it's better now to dig (in a specific place, you know) for Sword of Nonnac for -Death. This may help you in the future.
    Big Punch, because you already take it, is better to be wield in hand.
