Statue sightings

If you stumble across the "There's no smoke without fire!" statue, please try using a wand of fire and/or wand of fireball on it. The effect will probably be something to do with charge count or damage.

To whoever is responsible for the statue that just doomed my PC by simply stepping on it: I got eaten by a slavering grue upon descending the very next staircase into a dark room. Hope you're happy now

I have lost more than one char to this bullshit.

The dooming statue and the one that drops your alignment make me not use statues most of the time because it's not worth the risk. I would say the alignment one is even worse than the dooming one.

However, I've never actually seen a grue death, so that's cool.

I actually had a crowned mist elf wizard go from n= to c from that statue, but funny thing, I didn't lose my crowning! This was a few versions ago, but has this happened to anyone else?

IMO, much like with being in LOS on altars I think entering darkness you should get one free turn. The game shouldn't kill you without a chance to act just for entering a location.
