It'd make playing with pets much more satisfying if 50-100% of the xp your pet earned also went to your character. As it is, you carefully train your pet, only to have it die and be left with nothing to show for it.

To me it's a fair tradeoff: You don't put yourself on the line, you don't get experience. I wouldn't mind if necromancers got some experience from their slaves, but I don't think bards deserve any from greater claw or killer bugs. : )
Actually, not getting experience from pets has some uses. And it's totally logical that pets become stronger, not their owners.
I'm going to win with Dark Elves of all classes.
