    Default Character Stories.

Sometimes when playing a character I make up a story about how he got where he did, how he lived and how he died.
I think I am probably not the only one to make up stories about their characters so I decided I would share them here, and encourage others to share their stories also.

Here is the first one I've decided to share.

    Jay Jr. the ratling duelist.

Raised by the traders near the arena Jay was always fascinated by the matches, and practiced with a rusty rapier on the street until he became quite skilled.
As soon as he became an adult he signed up to participate in matches, his first match was against a young swordsman, odds were heavy in the swordsman's favor, no one believed a ratling with a cheap rusty blade would stand a chance against such a well equipped opponent, but Jay's speed and skill allowed him to counter the swordsman's armor and experience, dancing rapidly back and forth striking several bleeding wounds, until he was slowed enough for Jay to rush in and cut his throat.
Retrieving the superior equipment from the corpse Jay left the arena in victory.

Time after time he battled in the arena, never losing a match.
After becoming the reigning champion he went on a sabbatical to the dwarven halls, he traded the Golden Gladius(a gaudy but not particularly exceptional weapon) with an old gladiator for "training" but mostly out of sympathy for his losses, he also used the fortune he won to have Glod the dwarven master smith forge him high quality eternium weapons and equipment.
He did train with an ancient dwarven mystic for a year and a day when a challenge arrived from a lich for a battle in the arena.

Returning to the arena to defend his title Jay Jr. easily destroys the lich completely, this is considered a stunning feat for everyone knows the danger and powers of a lich.
Having made quite a name for himself people of great skill come from far and wide to challenge the peerless duelist Jay the Lichbane.
Always he accepts and always he wins until the challengers stop coming, for they believe him to be unbeatable.

Shortly after he began growing bored and lethargic, longing for the challenge of worthy opponents, when the word goes out that the spirit of the great sage Khelvester has risen from the depths of the caverns, calling champions to collect the elemental orbs and close the gates of chaos.

Deciding that this would be an excellent adventure and a way to further train his skills, Jay sets off to claim the orbs of chaos. Conquering quickly the Tower of Eternal Flames.

He is stunned when he picks up the orb of fire, seeing images of the other orbs deep below the dwarven halls, claiming also the orb of water, he continues to travel deeper and deeper under the mountain.

Upon spending time in the grand casino he learns that the temple of earth is just a few levels further down.
Shortly after leaving the casino Jay finds himself transported magically to a place seemingly disconnected from reality, where he is confronted by what is without a doubt the lord of all felines.
"you overgrown rat, how dare you slaughter so many of my people in your barbaric games, I shall avenge them" he roars shortly before leaping at him.
Only Jays masterfully forged eternium armor saved him from the first strike, the Cat Lords speed was far beyond anything Jay had ever faced before, using all his skill just to survive a few more seconds, but the final result was inevitable.

On the 21st day of the Falcon, the Cat Lord slew the level 30 ratling duelist Jay Jr "The Lichbane" in vengeance of the felines he had slain in the arena.

    Boson The Dwarven Monk.

Boson, at one time was a soldier in his nations military, until one day during his sixtieth year a battle broke out with the adjacent ogre tribe, the dwarves beat them back, but the ogres fought to the last breath, forcing them to kill every last one or be killed themselves.

After that incident Boson retired from the military taking up the peaceful ways of a traveling monk.(game start) Tall for a dwarf, Boson had a particularly long stride which ate away the miles. For three years he traveled the globe helping those who needed it, when news of trouble brewing in his home once more reached him.

Chaos spawn had started appearing in great numbers in the Draklor Chain, and he returned to give aid and comfort to those who needed him and to protect the many farmers and village people in Teryino from the forces of darkness.

Of course he himself also needed help on many occasions, fortunately in his travels he encountered a skilled healer named Jharod, who saved his life on many occasions.

In the end though it was his appetite for booze that did him in, seeing a bottle of brew lying on the ground he grabs it only to have it bite him, as the toxin rapidly spreads through his veins the bottle grows and transforms, the mimic quickly devouring his paralyzed form.

    Ki the Grey Elven Beastfighter.

Lot more chaos spawn around, wonder if Terinyo's elder knows anything about it.

Doesn't know much, tells me to ask the dwarves under the mountain.

More monsters under the mountains even. Found a pool to drink from - lucky, looks like I'm invisible now.(my personal rule I drink once and only once from every pool I come across and live(or die) with whatever result I get.)

Dwarven elder says monsters come from a gate far below them. The way down is blocked by a wall of flame, ice beats fire right, I'll go talk to the lady of ice in the western wilderness.

Arrived in middle of war, creatures of ice battle creatures of fire, one of them dropped a nice ring, seems like neither side can hurt me anymore(ring of elemental mastery - nice!!), maybe now I can pass the wall of flame, though I should still talk to queen, don't want to be rude after all since I am in her palace.

Queen says I am silly, must have the orb of fire to pass wall of fire, orb is at top of tower of eternal flames.

Wow that fiery wyrm was strong, I think it was merest luck that I survived, but I've got the orb now, I'll get past that wall now.

Meet cat person, says because I am kind to his people I may pass in peace, he gave me a ring as token of his respect.

Made it to the gates of chaos, cant keep those blasted gates closed, cant KeEp GoInG, TMikoaietjagl.

Ki the grey elven beastfighter was turned into a writhing mass of primal chaos, courtesy of the fifth balor on level 50 -

I had found a wand of destruction on a previous level, but didn't realize it was one of the many objects destroyed by the traps in the mana temple.

Placed a familiarly summoned greater earth elemental on one of the levers and ordered it to wait, but didn't have another familiar summon scroll so tried surrounding the second lever with doors and summon an unintelligent monster to sit there via monster wands, however the brown worm didn't stay when the enemy teleported outside the doors and opened them.
(rather aggravating when I have +88 to hit and speed of 147 and only hit the balors 1/10th of the time)

    Fitch - The gnomish farmer

Fitch - The gnomish farmer. and his dog Poggle, lived many years in the village of Teryino.

Chaos recently warped the mind of the village carpenter.
Knowing that Fitz was certainly the most capable of the villagers remaining Rynt chose to send him to hopefully talk sense into the deranged carpenter and convince him to return to the village.

Taking sickle in hand and calling his hound to him, he set forth to the cave where Yriggs descended in his madness. However on the first level he fell into a pit trap Yriggs had dug and filled with snakes, Poggle valiently leaped to his defense but was quickly killed.

In fear and rage at his companions death Fitch charged the snakes hammering his sickle into them like an axe avenging his poor dog by slaying the remaining serpents however he soon after succumbed to the poision himself, his last thought. "YRIGGSSS!!!"

In actuality I died from poison before killing a single snake - sigh - the RNG giveth and the the RNG taketh away

    GO DEEPER DOWN INTO CAVE.

    GREEN DOG BE CADES FRIEND.
DOG AND BEAR FOLLOW CADE DOWN.

Stupid as an actual troll I forgot I was chaotic, I went back to get the slay healer quest from Hotzenplotz and was killed by an outlaw leader. The animals though were simply left behind in the dungeon.

Ares-Yottsu Mist Elven Fighter (Yottsu means 4)

I've spent a while observing the state of Ancardia, It seems after a millennia of watching, that Chaos is a threat to the entirety of this world, and perhaps even to others. I shall set forth to aid the mortals of Ancardia in pushing back this danger. I have observed they find great use in the many items around them, I will keep an eye out for those objects and gather them up. (started game with Treasure Hunter)

I have heard somewhat reliable rumors from the local village of a carpenter who had fallen to chaos so I decided to go and put the creature out of its misery, though I saw an elderly healer encounter this same carpenter and with a touch wash away the taint of chaos from him. That seems to be quite a useful skill, and after some time of contemplation I realized it must be a form of advanced healing. I approached this elder to discuss this topic and with another touch he forces the knowledge into my very essence. The nerve of this lesser creature, touching me, forcing his incoherent jumble of thought images upon myself is simply a barbaric way of communicating. Still, the knowledge I gained after taking a few days to sort through the mess of images does seem to be useful to me, so for now I will let his insult pass.

I think I shall spend some years again outside the Draklor chain to master this new skill and to contemplate how best to further aid in balancing the scales against chaos.

He actually died to a WMOPC on VD3 on his way back up, I heard it form on the way down but hoped to avoid it altogether, but though I got past it in coward mode a gnoll appeared in the hall ahead and by the time I killed the gnoll the WMOPC had slowed me and I couldn't get away. Although I was surprised my 25hp Mist elf was able to take 5-6 hits before dying, The mist elf bonus damage reduction is nice.

A - The gnomish paladin, started on creators day.

average equipment, but found a tower shield on VD 3 lucky start, found a grey ooze on VD 6 but fortunately had unerring arrows to kill it before it multiplied. Saved carpenter, used almost all of my unerring arrows but found some jelly slaying ones. Became trapped in puppy cave big room with infinite blink dogs, ate corpse, escaped down and got killed by a trapped door on after finding cute dog corpse, silly of me not to wait for healing, I wasn't even paying attention to my health at that moment.
