Christmas and New Year's Eve RRC 2014 Challenge

And we’re off once again!

The first thing that Elrond did was to checked out the Casino, which had no humanoid slaying ammo, but a MITHRIL FLAIL OF PENETRATION upon a mass-identify. He had to gamble a bit to get money, where he acquired the "lose weight" corruption. Kherab went down thanks to a potion of blindness and the flail of penetration. After taking care of Kherab, he goes down to finish of the cat lord, which takes seven blessed potions of extra healing and the mithril flail of penetration to finish off. With the cat lord out of the way, he goes down to D:36, where he gets aged by a lot of shadow wyrms in a shadow wyrm tension room. D:37 was a cave level with nothing of note. D:38 was the air temple, but Cheers had no intention of going inside yet. D:39 had a chaotic altar that was converted to neutral for 40000 gold pieces and is also the place where Elrond ends his turn.

The next challenge for the person is to either:

Kill the minotaur emperor.

OR

Kill the assassin prince.

Unfortunately, Cheers is dead.

Vampires take even *more* points of strength and toughness away, leaving her with 10 strength points and 17 toughness.
D:18 had nothing of note, but D:19 was the water temple. Got the babbling mouth corruption while fighting the grues, which proves to be her undoing as water demons and elementals surround her and kill her with several rounds of critical hits.

And thus all of the Christmas Eve characters is dead, leaving only Elrond left.

Sad to hear about Cheers. That's a lot of stat draining you got there. Did some Lich summon those vampires around you?
Anyway, nice job against the cat lord with Elrond!

Yep, some vampires did come from lich summoning. How about taking Elrond for a spin? If no one else does, then I will play at 3:00 PST on Saturday.

Here we go!
He made it into the minotaur city, making sure to celebrate the occasion by dropping booze at the starting square. Magic mapped a fourth level to save time. Minotaur mage drains some stats during Elrond's discovery that the fourth level and the level below it is false. 4000 turns later, and Elrond is still stuck on the maze. He marked false staircases with gold coins.

The objectives for the next claimant are still the same, which are either to kill the minotaur emperor or kill the assassin prince.

Aaand our last character and last hope is dead.

First of all, Elrond gets more food, since his stack of stomafilla herbs was running low.
He uses another scroll of magic mapping to cut out any search time on ML4. A minotaur mage drains some Pe points on ML6. Elrond unfortunately meets his end upon receiving several critical hits from a minotaur king on that same level.

And thus the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve challenge ends, with not a soul to return from the many adventurers that set off. Rest in peace everyone, and we can FINALLY put this utter failure of a challenge to rest.
