I'm sorry, I didn't frase the question correct.
    Trying once more.
Does the pv mitigation count as damage in regard to crit/bless damage modifier?
    Yes/no/dunno/won't tell ya?

Speaking for myself, i just don't know. There might be a difference between phase daggers and weapons of penetration in this regard. I vaguely remember a heated discussion about this subject, and it turned out the answer was not as simple as I had suspected. Maybe someone else can tell you more?

Regardless, I think a bloody dagger would be pretty cool now that you already have Protector. As one-handed weapons go, this is one of the best especially since you don't have a artifact slaying weapon.
You steal a scroll labelled HITME. The orc hits you.

my flowchart of wishes is something like this (obviously it depends on what i have already though)...AoLS, GoGS, 7lb, spellbooks of slow monster, alchemy (especially on drakeling), etc. ofcourse if i have been aged tremendously, then potions of youth is good too (though alchemy covers that perhaps). also low hp heroes like elves can use !oEx (which i curse b4 drinking). as for crits with Armour piercing weapon, i suspect it does crit damage directly to hp, though i cant confirm this. however i agree they are mediocre weapons not worth wishing!

Game has went through quite time of having low player base, so lots of trick questions have answer of "people who knew for sure has moved on".
In case of weapons having "penetration"answer is no - PV is simply is ignored, no further multipliers.
In case of phase daggers asnwer is "no one knows 100%" [okay, creator probably knows how it is supposed to work] - in some cases [blessed phase dagger] half PV seems to be added to damage - whether it is bug or feature and whether it applies only to demons or to undead too is unknown. Cursed dagger seems to subtract half PV from damage in same cases.
[the only data I know involved balor, greater moloch and ogre emperor - first two triggered bug and last one did not. ]
If it is bug [likely case] it also might be fixed in current version.

You were always able to wish for items by either their identified or unidentified names ("glass wands" will give you unIDed wands of door creation), so it will still work
    "And light there be!"

Thank you for an excellent answer!
About player base, yes it also seems a lot of tricks/abuse are no longer valid since P23.
Phase daggers I've found have always been d4, I guess they can't roll with pre-/suffixes?

Oh I haven't paid any attention to those, any idea how much they improve crit chance?
Anyways, I'll stick with big punch for now.

(On a side note, str 50 is useless, I'm still strained )

They add as much as 50% crit chance. Thatīs better damage than big punch, especially when you have a strength as high as 50 (because crits double your entire damage, including the damage bonus from strength).

Oh hrm sounds interesting, also there is an extra backstab multiplier with dagger, know how much that is?
And for some reason I got stuck with dagger as weapon way back, probably equipped a cursed one since I got 7 lvls in daggers and knives.

On the other hand I have only one potion of youth (make that 2 if I rob casino) and as a short lived race ghosts will most likely pose a problem later on (no aging yet however).

    I don't know. Wasn't that a new feature?

Potions of youth (or longevity) are a good option too. Just use it for whatever you like best. The only bad use for a wish is to keep it in your pockets until the end of the game because it's Too Awesome To Use.

    I re-read its x3 for non-thief/assassins.
"If the PC is wielding a dagger or knife, they get an extra damage bonus when backstabbing; this increase the damage multiplier to 5x for Thieves and Assassins and 3x for other classes"

Yeah I'll save ring for emergencies with my careless style I'll probably loose those non artifact weapons, also girdle of Giant str could get nuked (I did find a spare pair of 7lb however).
I just cleared a blue dragon vault on D34, some with BP most with dragon slayers.
