What kills You? Again.

This is my favorite question in adom because it shows were people find their challenge. I guess it's a fancy version of YASD but I still like to ask it. I like to know what stops you on a sure win.

On your high score list, what are the top five deaths after your wins. Explain why or not. Feel free to brag about your number of wins by starting your numbers after your wins. I've won 4 times in this high score list so I'm starting a 5.

1. 5. L50 Dwarven Archer - Transformed into a purple J in the palace of Andy. Didn't have light source, didn't throw !ofCC, got him to critical. Sadness.
2. 6. L37 Dwarven Assassin - Killed by Fisty on D50. Multiple criticals took me from 550 to -50 in one turn. Didn't get saved at 1, maybe because I was wielding a certain axe but who knows for sure.
3. 7. L32 Ratling Farmer - Killed by Mr. Grumbles my greater Earth elemental pet on D50 when I accidentally shot him using a newly dropped Thunderstroke when it auto aimed at a newly appeared bee that came out of hive behind me. I really think that a message like do you really want to shoot your super experienced friend [Y/N]... Really[Y/N] before it lets it fly. Maybe it's been changed in the newer releases - or maybe they will continue to punish button mashing.
4. 8. L23 HE Weaponsmith - Killed by Keriax. I underestimated his regenerative powers and didn't have nearly enough slaying ammo. I just didn't want to miss my darknight window.
5. 9. L26 Hurthling Paladin - Killed by the poison of a quickling queen. Dropped all my wands elsewhere and forgot to pick them up on a quick run to get a item.

2. L34 gray elven wizard - tension room filled with darkness and 50 emperor liches spawned on D:50
3. L30 gray elven wizard - "ha ha my PC is so powerful at this point I can even let Ancient Chaos Wyrm close in on me!"

I only have this highscore list since mid April, so not much else in terms of potential game winning characters, all other entries are below level 20.

Lvl 12 DE Thief. Enter HMV, ratling warlord jumps over next to me. Coward mode -> wand of magic missiles.
He panics after the first bolt, blind rages and hits me 8 times in a single turn, all hits connect and he always ignores PV -> 81 HP to -5 HP.

Lvl 26 GE Wizard. Enter the library, start hitting stuff in melee because... why not?
I realized too late it was not a gray but stone ooze standing on one of the books.
Perma-lyzed and PV ignored to death.

Lvl 18 GE Bard. Summoned a GEE in DH:2, went back with it to kill Kherab and dispatch his golems.
Kherab crits my GEE, then dies. My GEE goes blind raging due to massive HP loss and attacks me.
"This is a Greater Earth Elemental. It looks extremely experienced. (...) attacks: 21, damage 40-181..."

Is there an easy way to copy from high score in windows?
Maybe suggest to add export highscore as a feature? Snipped picture gets ugly.


lvl 47 gnome priest, killed by pet golem in mana temple, got aggro from stray spell/arrow when clearing out the remaining scrap ...
Golem is a statue feature and grows to bisarre proportions after awhile, if I remeber correct it one shot emperor lich and definitely oneshot me.
This was soo close to a breeze of a win.

lvl 24 drakish paladin, killed by a diamond golem on lvl 38. As I recall the summoner summoned a bunch of diamonds that I was way too careless with.
Probably had justifier.

lvl 26 drakish fighter. Killed by a Titan on level 35. Cavernous area had a crapton of titans and I was doing pretty well, had taken out 17 (not much ammo left here) when one got ragemad and killed me.

lvl 19 DE paladin. Killed by earth elemental in the dungeon of the castle of the ice queen.
No idea what I was doing there ....

lvl 16 orc paladin. Drowned by a giant dragon turtle in some underwater cave.
This taught me to always use teleport in waterdragon cave.

I play on 2 computers, so i will give you deaths from only one.

2. lvl 50 DE Wizard, Died of starvation while bookcasting Wish in order to become an Archmage.

3. lvl 30 GE Wizard. Got sacced by a kobold while carelessly stepping on a C altar while C, to bless some water. Had cleared the Library already and was almost ready to become an Archmage, only needed to get to lvl 50.

4. lvl 25 DE Wizard. Drowned by a giant dragon turtle. I, too, started to stay in that cave minimum time needed.

few other wizards died in the Bug Temple coz of careless.

The deaths of mine that have had the most interesting stories behind them were in previous installations of the game. Nonetheless...

1. lv47 dark elven mindcrafter. Died to a frost giant berserker in the smc, because I was half being an idiot, half didn't really GIAF.

2. Lv44 ratling necromancer. Died to a quickling king vampire companion that went into a blind rage from taking environmental damage in the ice queen domain.

3. LV21 dwarven beastfighter. Died to a fire elemental atop TOEF.

4. LV23 ME duelist. Sacced on a chaotic altar due to an oops.

5. Lv21 ME duelist. Crushed by atlas spell running out and thinking I could chew down on a stomfillia herb before it would (it took far more turns than I realised).

After three wins I have:

1- Lv26 Gray Elven Wizard: killed by a panicked Cat Lord. Do not mess with the Cat Lord.
2- Lv27 High Elven Healer: fried by an ancient blue dragon. Not much to say.
3- Lv23 Orcish Archer: killed by a master mimic. Here I learned to always wear an amulet of free action while strolling in the casino shop.
4- Lv21 Orcish Thief: killed by a fire grue in the tower.
5- Lv19 Orcish Barbarian: killed by frost giant berserker. I think I underestimated the frost giant vault in jarl's cave.

lv 17 Gnome Druid: Killed by my own Lightning bolt trying to clean out snakes while fending off a Daemon..
(honestly, wasn't expecting such range on that bounce but it kept going....)

Wizard (don't remember race and level, it was after saving the world): shred himself into pieces while digging the wall by Magic Missiles in a corridor. Honorable sudoku.
By the way, I hope that the Steam version will have sticky keys for spells. It is always unexpected when you learned a new spell and half spell keys are changed.

Boredom? Sometimes I give up on a character, and they remain in suspended animation (aka svg) forever.
