    Default Pets are dangerous.

    I just wanted to open a door, nothing so stupid...it was trapped and exploded hitting me and my "pet" behind me...he didn't like that..I thought pets never turns against bards.

    My first pet was a fairy dragon, died for the poison of the Snake in WT, then a SoFS in DH:2 gave me this boy. Nothing could be wrong at this point (note that this "pet" killed two molochs in a mixed tension room), I had even a scimitar of devastation and 7LBs..I saved khelavaster..but I wanted to open a door.

    They do not turn naturally when the time passes. Also there is a chance of pet forgiving their master after he triggered a trap I believe. But luck was not on your side today.

    EDIT. You could buy keys from a ratling in the bandit town. Blessed keys do not trigger door traps. Though if you're doomed I'm not sure.
    Alternatively you could buy Trap detection and use pickaxes/wand of knocking to deal with trapped doors.

    There's still a chance to step into a fireball trap, but you can't do much about that. Alertness, Dodge, high luck and Sixth Sense talent can reduce the chance of such a disaster.

    Ratling in bandit town is someone that I always promise to myself to visit and always forget...but I didn't know I can buy Trap Detection, this is a very very useful hint...
    This char anyway had trap detection, and a lot of useful skills (but not alertness), I played all the game very carefully, checking for traps every closed door, but THIS door trigged the trap at first (o)pen command ... very bad luck..or not, giving the number of doors during the game, sooner or later it had to happen...

    They do if you hurt them - and unfortunately, they interpret a door trap you set off as you 'hurting' them. That's why you tell the pet to stay the hell away from doors if you're trying to disarm a trap on one, or if you're kicking one open, or even just opening one normally.

    But come on - 'Zarbon'? That's just asking for trouble. Look at Dragonball Z - Vegeta at one point could be described as Zarbon's pet, and Vegeta is the one who killed Zarbon in the end. Really, you were asking for it.

    I really agree with you, you know, I'm starting all char. names with Z (have a lot of savegames from the resurrection day still waiting), when I run this my son was watching exactly dragonball on TV, and since I am a child inside, zarbon was the natural solution

    I didn't mention that the name of the fairy dragon was "Alduin"..this too had a bad luck..
